Hernia, the symptoms of which are not always clearly pronounced, occurs in people of different ages quite often. Having small dimensions, it manifests itself weakly, and only a cosmetic defect can disturb a person, when complications begin, there is an urgent need to consult a doctor, but some consequences may already be irreversible. Therefore, it is so important to know what a hernia is, the symptoms of this condition, the causes and treatment. In this article, more attention will be paid to the symptomatology of the most common types, so that it is easier to recognize the hernia in the early stages, when complications have not yet begun, the hardest of which are uncontrolled and infringement of hernia, and uncomplicated treatment.

The main symptoms of vertebral hernia:

  1. Pain in the back and lower back. At the initial stage of the disease, the patient will experience dull and unstable pains that increase with coughing, sneezing, physical exertion, prolonged sitting or standing. After a while, when the hernia increases, the pain will intensify and begin to "give" to the thigh, leg or buttock. This condition was called radiculitis. It is characterized by an increase in pain after a sharp change in the position of the body or lifting weights. And the pain is now strong, shooting. There may even be numbness in parts of the skin of the legs;
  2. Reducing the degree of mobility in the lower back. Severe pain with the intervertebral hernia often causes excessive muscle tension, while the person is not able to completely unbend his back. As a result, within a year, and even earlier, the patient develops a violation of posture - kyphosis or scoliosis;
  3. Weakness, numbness, tingling in both or only one leg. This suggests that the resulting hernia is already pressing on the roots of the spinal cord;
  4. Violations of urination (delay or incontinence), stools (diarrhea or constipation), impotence may manifest.

Intervertebral hernias are most often found in adults aged 25-50 years, both in men and women.
