Gum treatment and its features

To date, gum disease is much more common than, say, a few dozen years ago. Proceeding from this, there was a separate area of dentistry - paradontology, which deals with the elimination of these diseases. The most common diseases in this area are gingivitis, periodontitis and periodontitis.

Typically, the treatment of gums should begin if you have the first signs of the disease. Initially, there is gingivitis, which is characterized by inflammation of the mucous gums. If you start this disease, it quickly develops into periodontitis, which can also occur as a result of an incorrect bite, tartar or poor-quality prosthetics.

In addition to the above, causing periodontitis may lack vitamins in the body, bad habits, impaired metabolism, poor ecology and some chronic diseases. Proceeding from this, it is possible to single out a number of ways, observing which, it is possible to prevent diseases and treatment of gums. So, first of all, it is necessary to carefully monitor oral hygiene, to eat well, to visit the dentist on time, to replace substandard dentures on time and to visit the orthodontist to correct the bite. Remember that any treatment for teeth and gums should begin only after a thorough examination. When the cause is established, the necessary treatment is prescribed in this situation.

According to dentists, the treatment of gums is best to begin when there was only a small inflammation. Today, ultrasound and mechanical means are used to treat gums in this situation. They are aimed at eliminating dental deposits (which contribute to the development of the inflammatory process), as well as for the treatment of the crown and root with preparations that contain fluorine-containing varnish and polish the surface of the teeth. These procedures lead to the elimination of the early stage of periodontitis.

But, as a rule, patients turn to a doctor with an average severity of the disease, when there is an unpleasant smell from the mouth, redness of the gums, severe bleeding, swelling. At this stage, teeth begin to stagger strongly. Naturally, in this case, treating the gums is much more difficult. The main way to eliminate the disease is to carry out the curettage of the gingival pockets under local anesthesia. During the procedure, the teeth are polished and the tissues that are damaged by the infection are removed. Curettage itself is the removal of deposits on the teeth with the help of special hooks (curettes) or by surgery, when a gum incision occurs (or the upper part of the gum is removed and then sewed back).

If, however, the patient does not seek specialist help at this stage of periodontitis development, then the moment comes when the disease can not be eliminated with the help of conservative methods of treatment. Surgical intervention is required. The operation consists in removing the most affected teeth and conducting an open curettage periodontal pockets.

In order to avoid surgical intervention, it is necessary to begin treatment of gums and at home, when the disease has only begun to develop. Such measures are only applicable together with medicines prescribed by a doctor, and only after approval. So, broths and tinctures of sage, chamomile, echinacea help to eliminate bleeding and redness of the gums. Moreover, the broths not only rinse the mouth, but also moisten in them cotton swabs, and then apply to the inflamed gum. It is also necessary to regularly do gum massage and exercises to strengthen the muscles of the mouth (for example, to tighten the teeth, stretch the corners of the mouth, while taking a deep breath.) After stretching the lips into the tube and exhale.

In addition, you should quit smoking, brush your teeth three times a day with fluoride paste, and also use toothpicks or floss after eating.
