Growing and Diving Seedling Tomato

After the seeds of the tomato planted in seedlings have risen, they need to be allowed to develop for about two weeks in seedlings. Basically, the time the tomato seedlings are in the boxes depends on the growing conditions of the seedlings and the tomato variety. If initially the soil for seed germination is prepared correctly, then there is no need to feed seedlings in boxes, it will grow well without it.

When on the sprouts appears from 4 to 6 of these sheets, begin to produce a diving seedling. It is necessary to moisten the soil in the boxes before picking, that is, to fill it with water in a literal sense. However, remember that you need to use stagnant water with a temperature of at least 18 degrees. After this, you should prepare the glasses, which will be dived tomato seedlings.

Glasses can be made from any material. For this purpose, foil, thick paper, polyethylene film is suitable. They just screw on the bottle and fasten with elastic bands or paper clips. Tetra packs from juices or dairy products are suitable. You can buy ready-made pots of peat. When the cups are prepared, dives are sprouted tomato seedlings. The ground for the cups is of the same composition as for seeding. The earth is filled with cups not to the brim, leaving 2-3 cm above for subsequent powdering of plants.

Remember that with this procedure, the main thing is to preserve the integrity of the root system of the seedlings. Do not forget that the soil in the boxes must be damp and act very carefully. Seedlings should be raised with a peg (small wooden stick) gently from below, to take the plant for the lower part slightly higher than the cotyledons are located and to pull out neatly from the ground. There is no particular need to try to pull the plant out of the box together with a clod of earth.

Further in the glass we make a hole into which the diving of the seedling is carried out to a depth up to the cotyledons. If the plant is too stretched during the growing period, it is possible to break off the cotyledons and plant it slightly deeper. Then we compact the soil slightly with hands. All! The diving of the seedlings was successful. In the future, all glasses should be poured with warm water and left without watering for 3-5 days. Time without irrigation depends on the temperature of the environment. The best temperature for seedlings is 20 degrees.

For successful growth of seedlings apply fertilizing with mineral or organic fertilizers. The first feeding is needed when the diving of the seedlings is completed, and the last feeding is already done shortly before landing it on a permanent place. Often the seedling is affected by a black stalk. At the same time, the lower part of the stem darkens, it becomes thinner and rot. If the watering and sharp fluctuations in temperature are too frequent, the development of the disease can accelerate.

At the first signs of the disease, the damaged bushes should be carefully removed, and the seedlings should be watered with a solution of potassium permanganate: 3 grams of powder per bucket of water. Then do not water a few days. The soil needs to be covered with calcined sand or its mixture with ash a layer of 1-2 cm. There are a lot of potassium in the ash and potassium permanganate, and it is the best doctor for plants.

For seedlings of mass planting time, seedlings are grown in boxes without pots. In this case, the seedling dives into boxes, maintaining between the plants a distance of 5-6 cm. Then, during growth, another 1-2 cm of soil are poured. Two weeks before planting, it is necessary to cut the soil between the plants with a knife to a depth of 10 to 15 cm. Thus, the formation of an additional root system is achieved and the roots grow more into the cubes of the earth. This procedure makes it easier to remove seedlings when planting already in a permanent place.
