"Green Mile": actors and characters

This work of Stephen King is rightfully considered the most touching, permeated with real, subtle psychologism. Over the adaptation of the novel, created by director Frank Darabont, were shed liters of tears. It is now about the movie "Green Mile", the actors and skillfully recreated by them the characters were able to reliably convey to the viewer the main motive of creativity King.

The plot of the movie

Paul Edgcombe worked in the 1930s as a prison warden. He had to deal with those convicted to death by criminals. On the last day of their lives, before the execution in the electric chair, they passed along the corridor, the floor of which was painted green. Therefore, this final path of the convicts and got its name - the "green mile".

To serve in prison comes a new guard, cowardly, cowardly and spiteful Percy Wetmore. This person is unpleasant, his colleagues dislike him, but he has to endure his antics, since he is employed by the patronage of the state leadership. Wetmore himself is not particularly happy to work in this place, but he has only one desire that takes up all his thoughts - he wants to lead a real execution. Paul Edgecomb and the other prison guards conclude a contract with Percy: he must write a transfer application after his gloomy dream has come true.

Meanwhile, a black man of enormous height enters the prison, John Coffey. He was convicted of raping and killing two little girls. But, communicating with this prisoner, Paul Edgcombe understands that such a good-natured person as John Coffey simply could not commit such a terrible crime. This huge nigger for all his time in the cell does a lot of things - surprising, kind.

Percy achieves his: he is allowed to execute the execution of Edward Delacroix, one of the prisoners holding a small white mouse in his cell. During the execution, Wetmore "forgets" to wet a sponge, which is applied to the head of the convict for better electrical conductivity and for reasons of humanity. Delacroix dies in horrible agony.

John Coffey helps heal the illness of the wife of the prison governor. He "absorbs" her pain and suffering into himself, and when Percy comes to his cell, passes them to him. Wetmore goes mad and kills another prisoner from the revolver. Coffey, by the power of her inner gift, shows Paul Edgcombe that it was this shot man who was actually a rapist and murderer, whose guilt was attributed to him. However, Coffey asks not to interfere with his execution in the electric chair. He is just tired of living in a world where scoundrels are killed, raped and robbed, and good, innocent people have to suffer.

"Green Mile": actors and roles

All the characters in this movie are recognizable. Their characters are masterfully spelled out by the King of Horrors, so the images in the book turned out bright, lively. No less trustworthy and interesting are the characters of the film "The Green Mile". Actors, photos of which are collected for you in this material, are already inextricably associated with their roles.

So, Paul Edgcombe played Tom Hanks, and John Coffey - Michael Clarke Duncan. French Delacroix embodied Michael Jeter, and his torturer Percy Wetmore - Doug Hutchinson.

Tom Hanks as Paul Edgecomb

Initially, this role was offered to another actor, who had previously worked on the adaptations of King. It's about John Travolta, who managed to become famous as an actor through participation in the movie "Carrie." However, Travolta refused the role, and she got that Hanks.

Hanks, who previously starred in The Sleepless in Seattle, Saving Private Ryan and the movie history of Forrest Gump, agreed to play Paul Edgecomb and looked very organic in this role. The actors of the movie "The Green Mile" were nominated for an Oscar, some received the "Saturn" film award. But Tom Hanks was not included in their number. Even though, in fact, he is in this film - the main actor.

"The Green Mile" in the career of Michael Clark Douglas

This actor is a great kind John Coffey. "As a drink, it's just written differently." This role Douglas got with the help of Bruce Willis, who advised him to the director of the film "The Green Mile." Actors by that time were already selected, but John Coffey was not enough. And Michael Clark Douglas approved almost immediately. Subsequently, he received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Before the "Green Mile" this actor was filmed in several films, the most famous of which can be considered "Armageddon." Percy Wetmore, the main villain of the film, played Doug Hutchison. Interesting is the fact that according to the book Wetmoru 21, and when Hutchison came to the casting, he was 39. The actor did not mention his age, he was approved for this role.

Michael Jeter, who embodied in the film Edward Delacroix, according to the script was often in front of the camera with a small white mouse. The actor already had experience of communication with these animals, because earlier he was filming in the film "Mouse Hunt".
