Foam block masonry: features and benefits

If you are interested in the laying of foam blocks - you are standing on the threshold of the beginning of the greatest construction and begin to choose everything necessary to achieve the goal. Many people prefer this material for several reasons, including small material costs during the construction of the capital structure and good characteristics during the subsequent operation.

Determined with the required volume of foam blocks, you must also choose the material that will connect the individual elements among themselves. From its quality will depend on the strength and thermal insulation characteristics of the structure. Wall masonry from foam blocks must necessarily be made on a solution applied to the very top of the foundation in several layers and having a thickness of 1-2 cm. On the first layer of the solution for preventing dampness it is necessary to lay any soft waterproofing material. Then the laying of foam blocks can be started. The first row should have a flat horizontal surface. Only in this case you will be able to form a perfectly flat wall, as much as possible to facilitate all subsequent work. Be sure to remove from the surface of the first row of all kinds of debris, which can cause the formation of unevenness in the process of subsequent masonry.

If you want to provide excellent performance characteristics to the erected structure, after the first row is ready, the cement-sand mortar should be removed to the side, giving preference to special glue. In this case, you can ensure the formation of a flat wall surface, which will lack the so-called "cold bridges" formed from interlayers having high thermal conductivity. In addition, the thin-layer adhesive solution will be able to provide the necessary strength characteristics of the wall.

Masonry foam blocks are most often performed if the ambient temperature is above plus 5 ° C, but below plus 25 ° C. If the erection of the house is made in the cold period, it is worth buying glue, which includes a special antifreeze additive. In this case, the construction of the object can be performed at an air temperature of minus 10 ° C. If the air warmed up above plus 25 ° C, then work can begin only after the material has been moistened.

The laying of the foam blocks must be carried out in full accordance with the developed design. The adhesive solution should be evenly distributed over the previously laid row. To achieve this, you can use jagged combs (trowels) or trowels. The tooth size of these devices can be 4-5 mm. If the blocks have a rectangular shape, then the glue solution also needs to be applied to the joint of two elements. The thickness of the formed joint should not exceed 5 mm. Each successive series should be carefully calibrated with a level to control the horizontality. You also need to check the correctness of the corners with the wooden corner. A certain deviation from the required value is allowed, if it can be eliminated during the formation of subsequent series. In addition, before the beginning of the laying of each successive row, the previous one must be cleaned of debris and dust in order to provide the necessary geometric parameters of the erected walls.

To ensure the high quality of the work done, the evenness of the walls is checked by a level. To control verticality, use a plumb and level. The length of the partitions is checked by a tape measure.

Thus, the masonry made of foam blocks allows you to significantly reduce the time and material resources in the construction of buildings of any architectural complexity.
