Fishing in the Northern Sosva (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area): fishing grounds, water route, trophies

The rivers and lakes, which are so rich in the Khanty-Mansiysk District, are inhabited by a wide variety of fish. Here there are pike and perch, muxun and ide, sturgeon, as well as sterlet and many other inhabitants of the underwater world, which are of interest for lovers of quiet hunting. Their fishing here will satisfy the requests of even the most inveterate fisherman.

The river network of the Khanty-Mansiysk District is formed by such majestic water arteries as the Irtysh and the Ob, as well as their twelve tributaries. And in winter and summer the fish in them are caught almost everywhere. And the catch is not only rich in the Ob - the largest in the area, but also Konda, Kazym, the Sosva River and many small reservoirs.

In the North Urals there are many places where Russians come for captured underwater inhabitants. And one of such places is the Northern Sosva.

How to get there?

This is a navigable river. It flows along the West Siberian Plain, crossing the Khanty-Mansiysk District. Its length is 754 km, and the catchment area is almost one hundred thousand square kilometers. The Sosva River originates in the mountains of the Ural Range, then flows into the Lesser Ob. You can reach it by plane to the city of Khanty-Mansiysk, from which you will need to change to land transportation and go to Berezovsky district.

Settlements located on Sosva are several - it's Igrim, Nyaksimvol and Sartynya. And in its mouth is the urban settlement of Berezovo, in which there is a small airfield.

Fishing

The Northern Ural is famous for its less populated corners. Fishing attracts residents of almost all regions of Russia. Many Ural water arteries abound in abundant underwater prey. These are the Vishera, Chusovaya, Berezovaya and, of course, the Northern Sosva, geographically belonging to the circumpolar Urals. It is for this reason that its banks are still practically untouched by man. Here the beauty of the taiga, mixed with deciduous massifs, is framed by crystal lakes and rivers with the purest and very cold water. It is in the river Sosva in large quantities splashing fish. All this makes the arrival here a truly unforgettable adventure.

Fishing in the Northern Sosva, which has long attracted lovers of quiet hunting with its natural resources, will not only be an excellent opportunity to enjoy the beauty of its shores, but also a chance to get trophy specimens of taimen, burbot, grayling or pike. It is here that you can pull out an incredibly large fish.

Features of local fishing

In these places fishing is not only incredibly fun, but also comfortable. Fishing on the Northern Sosva, although it takes place in the circumpolar conditions, however, involves the most convenient routes, along which it is possible to get to the immediate place of fishing. In addition, there are very comfortable conditions for living, at least, that could be organized in the conditions of this locality. And, as in almost any other region of the Urals, fishing in the Northern Sosva is carried out using modern technology that greatly facilitates stay in the Circumpolar region.

Trophies

The river is rightly considered a storeroom for whitefish. Experienced hunters say that fishing on the Northern Sosva has its "specialization". Here are excellent catch sig and muxun, tugun and other representatives of the underwater world. There is also a lot of grayling, burbot or ide in this Ural river. But, of course, the most important treasure of this water artery is a toothy pike. Due to the amazingly clean nature and significant distance from the destructive for nature of civilization, in Northern Sosva fish, weighing about five kilograms, judging by the reviews, the trophy does not count. Local residents of Mansi say that fishing for pike in summer can end up with a specimen three times heavier.

Some believe that nowhere else in the world there are such stocks of whitefish as in the water of the Northern Sosva. Here are also found pyzhyan, cheese, etc. But the most delicious of all kinds of underwater inhabitants is the Sosva herring. It has a size similar to sprat, but, unlike the latter, it is very oily and has practically no bones.

Amazing nature

Experienced anglers say that the most impressive fishing is in the Northern Sosva in the autumn season, when the surrounding forest is painted in bright colors, and the animals unfold a stormy activity, preparing for the winter.

On the banks of the river are often found rabbits, moose, gluttons, deer, sable, mink, fox, there is a lot of ermine. Sometimes the water comes out and the "owner of the taiga" - a bear. The undergrowth of the coast is abundant with blueberries, cranberries and cloudberries, so it is not surprising that in many cases fishing in the Northern Sosva smoothly turns into photo hunting.

Fisheries

Until now, this ecologically clean and beautiful northern region has not been popular among lovers of quiet hunting. But today everything has changed. At present, almost every Russian has the opportunity to go here on a tour. For this purpose comfortable modern fishing bases have been built here. Of course, there are not as many of them on the Northern Sosva as, for example, on the Volga, but those that exist are practically no different from those in the central regions of our country. These are such fishing bases as "Bedkash", "Igrim", "Northern Lights", "Visiting Lech", "Far," "Deaf", etc.

They stop the inveterate fishermen coming from all over Russia. Their main goal is to capture a "trophy" beauty - a toothy pike. And I must say that it is possible to very many. Instances with a weight of twelve to fifteen kilograms in the Northern Sosva are encountered quite often. Without such trophy catches, rarely does the expedition remain here.

Almost all the bases, functioning on the river, organize tours, which include a whole package of services. Among them, accommodation in comfortable conditions, escort to the zones of probable biting, fishing with a fishing rod, provision of all necessary equipment and equipment, presence on the boat of an experienced captain, who knows the terrain well.

Tours

Fishing routes are calculated in such a way as to be able to reach the most interesting for fishing sites with the maximum economy of time and effort. The duration of the tours can be any: it varies according to a preliminary agreement. Thus, the fisherman can choose a new water route every day to catch a new, more "cool" place, while not leaving far from the floating base. Today, so-called "megaschuk" tours are very popular. Their duration is seven or ten days.

Conditions

Those who at least once participated in fishing on the Sosva River, will return here at the earliest opportunity. Fishing bases are small ships, designed for several people. For example, up to eight fishermen can be accommodated in the floating base of Natalena. The ship also has a kitchen, a dining room, two cabins, in which there are TVs and DVDs, bathrooms, a sauna, and a large deck, convenient for walking.

Almost all floating fishing bases have on board freezers, where you can store food and captured trophies. The cost of tours is three hundred forty thousand rubles for a group of eight people. If desired, you can also order a transfer.

The "Igrim" base is very popular with fishermen. On it there is a bath, smokehouse, BBQ. The cost includes not only accommodation in comfortable cabins, but also the possibility of using boats, a half-tank of fuel per day, food, life jackets, echo sounder and other equipment.

Such tours are calculated for seven or ten days. In this period also includes the road to the right place. As a rule, it lasts one day. It depends on what the water level in Sosva is at the moment.

Water routes

From the right bank of the Sosva River, a truly amazing view stretches for kilometers. Previously, there was a settlement here, which is now only reminiscent of pits.

The most popular water route starts in Saranpaul. It passes along the Lyapin, Shtokuriya, Yatriya, Tyakhlanya, Sosva wharves, Labytnangi station. The length of the route is four hundred and sixty kilometers. Its duration is twenty days.

The route passes, mainly along the left tributaries of the Sosva, within the foothills of the eastern slope of the Urals and the hilly-steep strip. These wild places are literally replete with taimen, grayling, pike, there are many berries.

In itself, this water route is relatively uncomplicated: there are no hard-to-reach rapids on the way although there are rubble in the upper reaches of Yatria, and kayaks are dragged through taiga thickets and a windbreak to Volya from Tayakhlany. Here, tourists will need stamina and good orientation.

On the left bank there is a cave, the entrance to which is flooded, when the water level in Sosva rises. Therefore it is convenient to go in winter on the ice. In the cave there are many large grottoes, beautiful calcareous outgrowths.

One of the most picturesque places along this route is Pereim - a thin rocky isthmus between Vagran and Sosva. A little lower is the Shooting Stone - a picturesque rock consisting of three limestone cliffs, where the Mansi converged to compete in archery.

Catching pike

In summer, in addition to the famous Sosva herring, the most desirable catch for anglers is the "crocodile". This is what locals call a pike. On Sosva, there is a large density of this fish, because it is here that its spawning grounds are located. In addition, there are many endemic pikes in the Northern Sosva. In the autumn, huge herds of this predatory fish move here, which rush for their favorite food - sigamous. Therefore, as evidenced by the reviews, this season in the river pike concentration reaches an unprecedented number.

If catching this fish on a neighboring larger Ob includes trophy specimens weighing from ten to fifteen kilograms, then on the Northern Sosva this count starts from twenty kilograms.

Tackle

Since early June, a large pike begins to eat off on bream and carp. At this time, it can mostly be found in shallow water or in old men, where there is warm water. If the water level in Sosva has not yet slept, then a large pike leaves for flooded willow willow. At this time, the bait of surface and near-surface species is the most catchy. Pike in the first two summer months is distinguished by an amazing greed and aggressiveness, so anglers bravely apply gliders, propbates and megapoppers.

When fishing this fish, the most popular gear is spinning. Firstly, this way of fishing gives fishing interest and urgency, and secondly, the chance to get trophy specimens increases. However, fishing for bait is no less common, which is considered no less successful.

Baits

As a rule, when using spinning, the appropriate attachments are selected for it - wobblers, rubber fish, twisters. Many, of course, practiced and catching on bait. With the help of spinning in Sosva it is convenient to catch a pike in algae thickets, where it often hides, stalking prey.

For large fish it is better to use clockwork carbines spiral, and monofilament with a test from thirty to fifty kilograms. The most optimal on the Sosva are spoon-wobbles weighing 35 to 45 grams, as well as jig heads with a similar mass and rubber multi-colored wobblers with a length of ten to twenty centimeters.

Best season

The best time for catching is spring. It is after spawning, when the predator starts zhor, and the most successful fishing for pike in this river. At this time, catch can be caught absolutely on any bait. And after the zhora, already late in the spring, especially cautious overcast warm days, when fishing for a fishing rod brings excellent results.

It is known that in the summer the pike's biting is irregular, but it is quite possible to catch it. Northern Sosva in this plan is amazing, because in it even in June there is a high and stable catch, although less abundant in comparison with autumn.

With the advent of July, anglers migrate from the tributaries to the indigenous river, as the water level begins to subside. Fish, which is the main food for pike, begins to migrate from the tributaries and old people, preparing for the winter. And just at this time the pike occupies a position in the pits, which are near the outlets of its fodder base.

At this time there are so many predators that they create a kind of "carousel": some, after eating, go to the depth, while others come to take their place. Thus, this process turns into an uninterrupted one.

Judging by the reviews, fishing enthusiasm often disappears in Sosva this summer, because there are so many predators in such places that each cast is a catch.
