English Toy Terrier

This breed of dogs, thanks to its miniature size and exclusive attachment to the beloved host and all of its "flocks", has become so firmly entrenched in our lives as partners that many are not even aware of their true, original purpose. But the English toy-terrier is a real hunter. And the breed was originally derived for catching rats (rat baiting) and hunting rabbits.

Track the history of the breed English Toy Terrier is very difficult. Most likely, it was not without the participation of the Manchester teens, with whom, by the way, they were exhibited in the same ring for a long time, only the weight categories were different (which, in fact, was the main distinguishing feature). This is now the English toy-terrier has become an absolutely independent breed and is recognized in many countries of the world. It is believed that these are miniature representatives of the Manchester toy-terriers: long and stubbornly selected the smallest black and taned individuals, and they later became the ancestors of the now new breed. In other words, the English toy-terrier appeared as a result of selective, targeted selection. Well, the name speaks for itself: "toy" translates as "toy." Dog toy-terrier really looks like a miniature toy. Fragile and formidable at the same time.

English Toy Terrier - description

The minimum height allowed by the standard is 17 cm, the maximum height is 27 cm. The maximum permissible weight is 3,6 kg. Addition is proportional, with a square format. The dog is muscular. Neck curved, long. Cuneiform head. Ears are erect, large, high. The eyes are slightly convex, very expressive. A thick, low-set tail gradually narrows down, short of hock joints. Short and smooth hair in special care does not need: one cleaning per day with a hard brush is enough. Color only black and tan, very bright and with clearly delineated borders. Tan marks should be "deep", saturated, golden-chestnut, dog breeders call this tan red. In no case is the blurring or blending of the color boundaries (this is a deviation from the standard and vice).

In general, the toy terrier embodies the elegance of the canine world. This dog is very agile, agile, fervent. Possessing an excellent hearing, it is quite suitable for watchdog service and the small size here is clearly not a hindrance. Outside the toy-terrier frankly does not like. This is a monogamous person. His heart will always belong to a single chosen one - the master. In such small sizes, a huge heart and great courage are hidden: the one always ready to become the protector of the owner, regardless of the size of the potential threat. Undoubted advantages include the absence of the smell inherent in many breeds (especially in rainy weather). By the way, in cold weather it is better to walk a dog in the pant. This will protect her from hypothermia. Rumors about good health are not a myth, but it will not hurt to be safe.

In the CIS countries representatives of the breed English Toch-terrier are relatively few. Probably, the "iron" Soviet curtain played its part. But despite the strict control of going abroad, people managed to miraculously deliver forbidden evidence of the "decaying bourgeoisie." Dog handlers in this case were no exception. A variety of so-called long-haired women, named the toy-terrier Moscow, was also received in passing. Later came the realization that the relationship received to the prototype has no, the species united in one breed and received a different name, now known as the toy-terrier Russian. Now these are decorative dogs that have received recognition, but are still not very popular due to the rather high price. Paradoxically, the toy-terrier Russian does not belong to terriers and is in the ninth group FCI.

Anecdotal situation turned out with the toy-terrier English. It would seem that the breed has the most direct relation to the toy-terriers Russian (actually, as well as to the appearance of the latter on our expanses), but in the FCI they are in different groups. The laws of arithmetic on the change of places of terms do not work here: "dog of breed" and "dog breed" according to FCI, completely different things.

But whatever it was, the English toy-terrier continues to be a favorite among dog breeders and is becoming ever stronger in the life of boiling metropolises.
