Embroidery on a towel: schemes, ideas, step by step execution instruction

A beautiful and bright towel is itself an original item in the house. But sometimes it would be desirable to express the individuality or to present a useful gift to the close and dear person. In this case, this will be too ordinary a presentation. But there is a way out - embroidery on a towel will make the thing more original and not so familiar.

Towels with baptismal embroidery

Kryzhma (this is the name of the baptismal towels) plays a special role in the performance of the sacrament of baptism. They have the power of the guard and carry it within themselves throughout the life course of man.

Embroidery in the form of a child's name, applied on a towel, enhances the effect of the amulet. The original will look like a kryzhma, supplemented by the embroidered date of the baby's baptism. Doing the work, you must follow the following rules:

  • The name should not take up much space. Embroidery on a towel should be located in a corner or in the center. If it is with a hood, then the inscription can be placed on it.
  • Embroidering a baptismal towel, use gold or silver threads.

Cross-stitch embroidery on a towel: schemes and necessary materials

If you want, you can always update your bathroom or kitchen. Fill your house with comfort, using embroidered towels, made by yourself.

The easiest way to do this is to purchase a ready-made embroidery kit from the store for creative work. However, you can make a separate pattern on the canvas, and then sew it to the canvas. The result is a beautiful embroidery on a waffle towel or on a terry, it all depends on your imagination.

Work on embroidering miniatures does not take too much time, and even a novice needlewoman can cope with it. For work it is necessary to prepare such materials and tools:

  • Color scheme for cross stitching;
  • Threads floss (they must be of high quality with a stable color);
  • Canvas;
  • Embroidery frame and needle;
  • Sewing thread in canvas color;
  • Water-soluble marker for marking;
  • towel.

Instruction for the execution of work

Getting to work, the first step is to prepare the materials (iron the canvas and make the markup of 10 by 10 cells using a marker). Then the canvas is pulled on the embroidery frame and starts to work. To make the embroidery look neat, all the stitches should go in one direction. First, the series go through the stitches "semicircle" in the direction from left to right. Then you need to go back, doing the same "semi-cross" in the other direction. If you want, you can make the embroidery more voluminous, you need to use thick threads or fold the mulina several times.

When the work is completed, the canvas is taken off the embroidery frame, washed in soapy water to remove the markings with a marker, and ironed through a cloth at a not too high temperature. At the end, the ends of the canvas are tucked on the wrong side and sewn to the towel by hand with a secret seam.

Embroidery on a terry towel

Choosing a terry towel for this job, you need to understand that embroidering on it is quite difficult. The fabric itself is not very simple, it does not have a smooth surface, and to transfer the sketch to it will be problematic.

To date, for such work, the sewing machine is most often used. Although, if you try, make time and effort, then a beautiful embroidery on a towel with your own hands can also be performed, while the result will look amazing.

Since a terry towel has a fleecy structure, it is best to embroider on it smoothly. Embroidered elements in any case will differ in their texture, so it is best to highlight them with contrasting threads.

When starting work, the first thing to do is to select a suitable pattern - this can be initials, an inscription or simply a beautiful drawing. In any case, the dimensions of the chosen pattern must match the dimensions of the towel itself.

Since on terry cloth patterns are applied problematically, it is best to choose a felt as the basis. Thanks to this, the embroidery on the towel will become more bulky and convex. When using felt, the pattern will be made more noticeable.

The sketch must be cut and swept to the selected part of the towel with ordinary stitches. After that, embroidery is done by hand (manually or on a typewriter). In fact, the technique of embroidery does not matter - it can be straight or oblique stitches. It is necessary to pay attention to the fact that the edges of the sketch are not visible from the outside. More extensively, the embroidery on the towel will look, if you perform it with a smooth surface with a flooring.

After trying and putting a little effort, you can make an original towel with embroidery, which will become one of your favorite things or a wonderful gift.
