Drape (cloth): description and composition

Today, a well-chosen coat is not only comfortable and warm clothes, but also a stylish wardrobe element that can emphasize your dignity.

Coat time

Today the coat can be seen not only in the spring and autumn season, which is habitual for us, but also in the harsh winter and even in the summer. It is understandable. Technical progress has touched this segment as well. For the manufacture of the product, a coat was used . Drape, in the first place, was associated with a traditional coat. Nowadays, a large number of duplicating materials have appeared, which are not inferior to natural fabrics, and the sewing technology has also changed. Corporate manual labor, necessary for tailoring a coat in the distant future, in some operations is automated. In this regard, in large factories, it is necessary to spend from four to ten days to completely release the finished product, but this is only with glue production technology.

As for the tailoring of a coat completely hand-made, then its production is sometimes eight times as long. In this way, now only elite coats are sewn. This requires a master of high level, which, naturally, affects the cost of the finished product.

If you want your coat to look all 100%, then the master in his tailoring should be really good. In this case, not only need to sew well, it is also necessary to understand which fabric is best to choose for this model, to choose the correct lining and insulation, if necessary.

How to choose the right fabric?

Now in the windows you can find a huge variety of fabrics suitable for sewing coats, which keep the heat well and have increased wear resistance. Therefore, before you go shopping for a fabric, you need to decide for whom you will sew and what weather. Strangely enough, but the fabrics can be intended for children, women and men, and also divided into winter, demi-season and summer.

Of course, mostly fabrics are designed for the autumn-spring period, as well as for the winter. Special properties should have a fabric for a demi-season coat, since such an article does not assume thermal insulation, which means that the fabrics must have a high thermal insulation. Coats for the winter season consist of directly the upper fabric, followed by windproof, warming and cushioning fabrics. That is why the special winter insulation should not have a special thermal insulation. It is necessary that it be light, beautiful and water repellent.

As for summer coats, anthers and raincoats, then the main criterion for the choice will be the water repellent property.

Types of fabrics

Depending on the structure of the material and raw materials, all coat fabrics are divided into two main types: cotton and wool. In turn, woolen fabrics for coats are divided into: worsted, coarse and fine-woven.

Drape

The fabric of this type, like most natural materials, has a glorious and centuries-old history. Its production became possible only after the invention of a special loom. This machine is capable of producing fabrics in which threads are arranged in several rows. Drape is a fabric that basically consists of two layers of thread, although it can have one and a half layers. This feature made it possible to experiment with the warp and weft threads, while creating a large number of variations of the material.

Over time, the technology was improved, and the masters began to replace the internal thread with cheaper and worse quality. The cost of the material was reduced. Later, the woolen fabric was replaced with linen and cotton, resulting in new varieties of drape.

Drape is a fabric that is ideal for making a coat. You can verify this by browsing the fashion magazines in a few years. From this material everyday, sports, youth, elegant and, of course, business clothes were made.

Drape - a fabric with excellent thermal insulation properties, because of what is not blown by the wind and people in clothes from it are not afraid of even the most severe frosts. The fabric holds the shape well and perfectly emphasizes the silhouette.

Fabric structure

If the material of the highest grade consists of two-sided wool, the front and the underside sides can not be distinguished. This effect is achieved only if pure wool threads of ideal spinning are used. This feature allows you to reuse the material. If the seams are worn, then the coat can be sewn up by replacing the back cloth on the front. This is different from other drape materials.

The composition of the tissue may vary slightly, depending on its type. So, in pure woolen dope additives make up only 15% and those, by and large, are wool, only restored by chemical method. Half-woolen drapery in its composition contains from 30 to 85 percent of wool. The front side of the fabric is made of pure wool, and viscose, nitron or kapron fibers can be used for the inside. The downside of this kind of fabric is its friability and softness. Therefore, it is most often used for making work clothes and protective suits.

There are pressed, velor and fluffy drapes. The fabric, in which threads of different colors are used, is called a melange drape. The fabric, the photo of which is below, is relevant to this type of material. Classics are considered only that fabric, which is made by a certain technology and in its composition contains exclusively wool. When it is produced, the technological process is strictly observed.

Variety of drape

One of the most popular varieties of coat fabrics is drape velor. This fabric has a velvety surface and consists of fine wool. Most often used for the manufacture of hats and winter coats.

The linear density of the velor is 100 tex, and consists of a two-faced twist weft hardware yarn. Density based on 98%, on the duck 151%, 760 g / m² surface tension has a drape. The fabric under the finishing work is exposed to a strong nap and roll, resulting in a beautiful and soft.
