Design and technical characteristics of Chevrolet Captiva of all generations (2006-2013)

In 2006, a series of cars of the family "General Motors" was replenished with one more crossover called "Chevrolet Captiva". The debut of the first generation of off-road cars took place in the same year as part of the annual auto show in Geneva. His restyling series appeared after 4 years in the framework of the Paris Motor Show.

Interesting fact: the word "Captiva" in Italian means "captive".

Design

The exterior of the car is quite standard for a compact crossover. Despite its small size and relatively low ground clearance, Chevrolet Captiva appeared very courageous in appearance. In the front part there is a wide chrome strip of the radiator grille with the company logo, on the sides - rectangular headlights of the main light with rounded ends. Just below the main optics - integrated in the bumper fog lights. Rear-view mirrors received LED repeaters of turn indicators, on the sloping roof, the rails are harmoniously placed. The relief hood successfully emphasizes the transition of the grille line to the body racks. In general, the appearance came out pretty successful, but if you compare it with the Russian-American development of Chevrolet Niva, you can see familiar related features.

The photo of the new Chevrolet Captiva, of course, is impressive. You can not ignore such a car. The body of the Chevrolet Captiva almost did not change in size, but it was outwardly redesigned cardinally. After the restyling of 2010, the bumper, front optics and the radiator grille have changed significantly . The air intake became more pronounced against the background of other details, which made the novelty not only aggressive, but even in some way sporty. The rest of the elements did not touch restyling.

Technical characteristics of Chevrolet Captiva before restyling

The engine line of the pre-styling version included 3 power units, among which there was one turbodiesel. The latter, with its volume of 2 liters, produced up to 150 horsepower of power. Petrol units had a volume of 2.4 and 3.2 liters, while developing power of 136 and 230 horsepower, respectively.

Technical characteristics of Chevrolet Captiva after restyling

In 2010, the engine line was substantially modernized. In general, the focus was on environmental friendliness, as all power plants after restyling corresponded to the Euro-5 ecological standard. In total, the manufacturer has prepared to enter the world market 4 new engines with a capacity of 167 to 258 horsepower and a working volume of 2.4 to 3.0 liters. It is worth noting that the dynamics of the car with a "top" 258-strong 6-cylinder engine was simply excellent. Technical characteristics of the "Chevrolet Captiva" allowed to accelerate the 1.77-ton SUV to a hundred in only 8.6 seconds. At the same time, the fuel consumption was from 6.4 to 10.7 liters in a mixed cycle (depending on the engine). As a transmission, the buyer could choose a 6-speed "automatic" or "mechanics" at the same speed.

As we see, the technical characteristics of the Chevrolet Captiva are simply magnificent, and power does not have the least effect on efficiency. American engineers deserve special praise for this.
