Deineka Alexander - the artist of monumental style

Deineka Alexander Alexandrovich (1899-1969) - Soviet artist, who glorified the bright tomorrow. He is the author of many easel works, watercolors, drawings, mosaic panels and sculptures. Deineka Alexander believed that art "must be life itself."

Some information about the artist

Born in Kursk and graduated from the Kharkov Art School, Deineka Alexander leaves for Moscow, where he immerses himself in the turbulent artistic life of VHUTEMAS. He was attracted by monumentality, and therefore most of his works are distinguished by it. Chamber music is not enough for him. Even creating works on everyday topics, he rose to high generalizations.

"Defense of Petrograd" (1928)

This first large picture reflects the artist's search for a new language that can express the revolutionary ascent of a people ready to die for an idea.

Strict and harsh the rhythm of the picture. A squad steps harmoniously and harmoniously. In severe, unyielding faces, in tightly clenched fists, in a heavy toil of people, the confidence is firmly and unshakably to defend the achievements of the revolution. A little behind the wounded only emphasizes the drama and tension of the situation. In the picture, there are practically no signs of everyday life. The background is given by the mean line of the remote city. And that's all. The artistic image is extremely grand and generalized. The picture even draws closer to the sculpture, so powerful are the defenders of the city. Epic monumentality of images does not cancel the fact that each person has his own, personal character. It's just that now they are all united by one idea, and nothing personal at the moment is no place. Bronze and steel casts a restrained coloring of the picture. He, too, is working to create a dramatic situation, in which self-assured people plunged with complete tranquility - the defense of the revolution is sacred to them. This work, which gives an impression today, is undoubtedly the result of long meditations and searches for the artist.

Thirties

Creative forces are actively looking for an outlet. They just splash on the canvas. At this time, finally formed a monumental style of the artist, which is painted with deep lyricism, humanity and attention to their models.

The peak was the picture "Mother" (1932). Beautiful and noble maternal soul. Great is her tenderness for her child trustingly lying on her shoulder. This is truly a Soviet Madonna. The composition of the canvas is asymmetrical, and the color is extremely restrained, harmonious and expressive. A little later, Alexander Deineka will paint paintings filled with light and sun.

Lyrics on the canvases of this period

Absolutely defenseless image of a little boy who fell asleep and curled up next to a vase of cornflowers. This is a completely different Deineka Alexander, full of tenderness for a helpless child. "Crimean Pioneers" (1934) - this is also a bright, cloudless childhood, which is poured in adolescents by the aromas of the sea. The brightest sun bleached all the colors, leaving one - joy and fullness of life.

The eyes of the boys on the canvas glow with intelligence and inquisitiveness. It is a bright and healthy world, behind which the future is and which is opposed to the old, departing. These children are akin to the images of Gaidar, who are confident in their country, as in the brightest of all existing. In those years, Deineka Alexander creates many works related to the assertion of a healthy lifestyle, which will lead to the creation of a perfect person. In 1935 the Parisian was written.

As always, the color scheme is laconic, and everything works to create a poetic image of a young and elegant woman. Her outfit and hat are exquisitely simple. Touched by scarlet lipstick, the eyes are sunk in deep shadows. The model is thoughtful and does not pay attention to what effect it produces. She does not care. This spiritual young woman is full of spiritual purity.

Years of the Great Patriotic War

All lyricism and poetry go away, before us the monumental nature inherent in the artist again rises in full. "Outskirts of Moscow" (1941) conveys a void and alarm. So sees the city of Deineka Alexander. And at the same time, the image of the capital, which is unassailable for the enemy, is given. This is expressed primarily by staked-in, extinguished lights in the windows and the swift speed of the leaving military truck. The houses were quietly alarmed. They are covered with snow. But the enemy will not pass. This will not allow the defenders of the capital, who are invisibly present here.

After the fracture

After 1943 in the paintings of the painter there is a very different mood. The artist Alexander Deineka creates an epic about the defense of Sevastopol.

This is a grandiose work that conveys the entire strength of the people, beating invaders with power and pressure, which can not be resisted. The dynamics of the battle is transferred in such a way that it is difficult to recount it in words. Later, there will be a watercolor "Berlin. Day of signing the declaration "(1945), which reflects the feelings that have taken possession of the whole country.

After the war

Deineka Alexander Alexandrovich again refers to the images associated with the sport. People should be beautiful, like the ancient gods. There is again no place for senility and laziness. Very good is his self-portrait for morning exercises. The artist not only declares that everything in man should be fine, but he himself follows these principles.

New people must create a new world, the artist asserts with his works. The work "Young Designer", created in 1966, shows this man, a young girl, in which is inextricably external and internal.

Deineka Alexander Alexandrovich paintings were written not with a brush, but with an intelligent heart. His work was highly appreciated by the government of the country. People's Artist of the USSR was awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, wore the high title of Hero of Socialist Labor.

The artist's works are in demand today. One of his works sold in London for about three and a half million dollars. The artist died in 1969 and was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy Cemetery.
