Daisies: planting and caring for the plant

Daisy is a flowering plant of the Astro family, one of the most common flower bed ornamental plants. In translation from Greek, a daisy is a "pearl". Daisies, planting and care for which do not require special work - unpretentious frost-resistant plants, reaching a height of 15-20 cm, with fluffy double flowers. They are very popular among gardeners. Buds of these flowers have different shades, from white and yellow to bright crimson and red.

Among all varieties of daisies (and their seven) in Russia, the most common daisy is a one-year-old and a perennial. One-year-old is often confused with chamomile. It grows in natural natural conditions - on glades and meadows - and more often it is white. A perennial daisy is grown as a two-year-old plant. In the first year of planting, an outlet of bright green leaves grows, and the first flowers appear on the next . These plants are very fond of lighted, sunny places, but they will not give up penumbra.

Daisies: planting and care

Most often, these plants are used to decorate flower beds and curbs. Florists are very fond of daisies. Planting and care for them are not burdensome, and the plants themselves delight the eye for quite a long time - the first buds blossom in the middle of spring and stay until the late cold starts. Often mistresses use these flowers to decorate balconies, terraces and window sills. The main methods of reproduction are seeds and division of bushes. Seeds are planted in warmed soil in early June. They give seedlings as early as 10-12 days after planting. Division of bushes is best done at the time of flowering. Daisies are very fond of moisture, so they need constant watering. In his absence, the flowers grow smaller and become unattractive. As a top dressing for plants, ammonium nitrate is used.

Osteospermum

Another kind of this flower, which is very popular among the florists is the osteospermum, or the Cape daisy. This is an annual herbaceous bush plant that reaches a height of 30-70 cm. Large flowers of white, orange, yellow, purple, pink, lilac and burgundy flowers resemble camomile in form, but, unlike perennials, have a tubular shape. Gardeners should remember that osteospermum - southern daisies, planting and caring for them require special attention. Previously, these flowers because of its slow growth just did not have time to blossom in the middle band of Russia. However, now several varieties have been brought out, pleasing the eye with their inflorescences in temperate latitudes. They need to be planted only in sunny, lighted places. Cape daisy is propagated by cuttings, seeds and by dividing the bush. In contrast to the usual daisy, osteospermum seeds are preliminarily planted for distillation in special boxes in the early spring, and only then the seedlings are transplanted into the warmed moist soil. However, plant varieties remain better when propagated by propagation. Cuttings are kept in water from the beginning of winter and are planted in the soil at the same time as the seeds sprouted.
