Copacabana (beach): description

One of the world's most famous holiday destinations on the coast is located south of the center of Rio de Janeiro, at the entrance to Guanabara Bay. Its name was inherited from the fishing village that used to be here. Copacabana (beach) stretches for as long as four kilometers. Historical reference

The beginning of the history of Copacabana can be called the middle of the 18th century, when a chapel in honor of the holy maiden from Copacabana (a city in Bolivia) was erected in a village called Sakupenapana. At the end of the XIX century, after the construction of the tunnel of Real Grande and the launch of the first trams, the village was connected to Rio de Janeiro.
