Choose a Lawyer: Advice to a Citizen

Each of us, faced with a problem requiring the resolution of related legal issues, faces a choice: to try to solve the problem himself or hire a lawyer? Is it worth trying to save and hiring a lawyer cheaper? How can you identify a good lawyer? We will try to answer these important questions.

So, is it worth trying to solve the problem yourself? Often citizens who are not lawyers are not at all badly shod in some legal issues and may well defend themselves in court for certain categories of disputes. For example, they will easily present their interests in a dispute over the protection of consumers' rights. In this situation, the court takes a rather active role and always takes the side of the weaker side, in every way helping it to collect evidence and substantiate the position.

According to the categories of cases, the assistance of a lawyer can be reduced only to giving legal advice or drafting procedural documents. Well-prepared documents and a clearly stated position in the case will ensure a favorable outcome.

But at the same time, it's always worth counting on your own strengths, most of the categories of cases are quite complex. For example, to resolve cases of legalizing re-planning, in any case, a lawyer for housing disputes is needed. A person who does not have a systemic idea of the law as a whole and about the peculiarities of certain categories of disputes may underestimate all the potential risks of such "amateur performance". In disputes where the court does not try to protect the weaker party, it simply refuses to satisfy the demands.

Is it worth saving on lawyers? We will not open secrets, if we say how much the market of legal services is full. The laws of the market say that the product can be sold only at a lower price. This rule fully applies to legal services. Many people who are not quite qualified, unable to withstand competition, are ready to work for small money with low quality of services. It is not necessary to explain what their trust risks. Having saved a penny, you can lose the ruble.

However, it should be noted that it is not always necessary to pay huge sums for legal aid and not always eminent lawyers are needed. With cases of small and medium complexity, an attorney with experience of several years can easily cope. At the same time, the quality of its services can be no worse, and sometimes even better. But at the same time, pay for the service will have less.

How can you identify a good lawyer? As we found out, the price of legal aid does not always reflect its quality. But you can identify a lawyer who can be trusted. Firstly, you can ask the lawyer and ask him to provide his higher education diploma for examination. Look, what high school was he finished and when. Ask for documents confirming work experience in the specialty. Ask if he has any feedback from other customers.

Thus, the issue of the need to involve a lawyer, his choice and optimization of the costs of legal assistance is a matter of your caution. Carefully consider all the pros and cons, evaluate the legal risks, study your possible defender. So you protect yourself from the unfavorable outcome of the case.
