Car air conditioning unit

In this article, I would like to describe the device of the car air conditioner and sharpen the readers' attention on the mechanism of its functioning.

Any complex unit used in automotive engineering requires constant maintenance, and air conditioners are no exception to this rule. Rather, on the contrary, attention to this costly detail should be proportional to the losses incurred by the owner, if something happens to the "kondey", God forbid. In order to better understand the needs of this unit, let's recall the device of the car air conditioner and the principles of its operation.

The air cooling system inside the car works exactly the same as the usual refrigerator that you have in the kitchen. In a closed, hermetic system filled with freon, refrigerating oil was dissolved. The task of the oil is to lubricate the compressor and the entire system.

The device of the conditioner at each motor-car manufacturer - own. But fundamentally these designs do not differ practically anything.

What happens when you press the "Start" button of the cooling system? When the right air conditioner is turned on, the electromagnetic clutch is turned on , and the clamping disk with characteristic metallic sound is magnetized to the pulley through which the timing belt passes (when the air conditioner is turned off, the pulley turns idle). The compressor starts to work. Its task is to squeeze the freon, which is now in a gaseous state. In the process of compression Freon is heated, and then the liquid and hot Freon through the tube flows into the condenser, or as it is also called - the radiator. This name is entirely acceptable, since the gas heated and compressed to the liquid state is cooled precisely in this construction.

Helps him to better and faster heat fan, and in the event that the machine is still moving, a counterflow of air is additionally connected to the cooling process.

When the cooling cycle is completed, the still still under pressure liquid freon exits the radiator into the receiver-dryer. Here it is cleaned of dirt and compressor work products, before being fed back into the system. Some manufacturers think over the device of the air conditioner better than others. They add to the design of the receiver eye sight, looking at which, you can visually assess the filling of the system. Unfortunately, this possibility is available on a limited number of machines, and the vast majority of manufacturers in the air conditioner device do not introduce such a simple and useful option.

But we are distracted, it's time to continue moving along with the flow of freon. After cleaning in the dehumidifier, it moves to the interior of the car, where it performs the work for which it is intended - cooling the car interior. Passing through the thermostatic valve (TRV), which is installed on the end of the tube going to the salon evaporator, the refrigerant leaves the evaporator in the vapor state at the boiling point . If the steam temperature is too high, the TRV closes, if too low, opens. Thus, it performs the function of a thermostatic throttle, changing the cross-section of the outlet of the tube to such values that the freon temperature at the outlet of the evaporator will be optimal. In the process of evaporation, passing into a gaseous state, the working medium is strongly cooled and reaches minus temperatures, this cold is blown off the evaporator by the fan of the passenger compartment. Then, after passing through the evaporator, the cold freon enters the compressor, and the cycle begins anew.

The part of the system that goes from the compressor to the TRV is the pressure line. The tubes there are thin and hot during the operation of the air conditioner. From the evaporator to the compressor is the return line, its tubes are usually thicker and cold to the touch. During operation, the pressure in the pressure line is up to 15 atmospheres. In the reverse - 1-2 atmosphere. In a state of rest it is balanced and is 5 atmospheres, both there and there.

I hope that you carefully read this material, and the air conditioner unit has become much clearer to you.
