Apple Pervouralskaya: variety description, planting and care

The climatic conditions of the Urals are severe, they are unfavorable for the growth of heat-loving plants in the middle belt. Therefore, gardeners carefully choose varieties or hybrids when planting fruit trees. Currently, there are several unique varieties for this region.

The Pervouralskaya apple tree was bred by breeder Leonid Kotov in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) at an experimental gardening station. The Persianka variety was taken as the starting material.

Characteristics of the variety

Apple tree Pervouralskaya refers to medium-sized trees with a broad and dense crown. The height of the trunk reaches 2.5 m. Dark green shoots of medium size form on the branches. Small smooth leaves are ovoid in shape.

The Pervouralskaya apple tree produces fruits of regular round shape with a late maturation period. Apples are large, 120-160 grams each, with good care can reach a mass of up to 300 grams. The main color of the fruit is greenish-yellow. The integumentary color consists of an orange-red blurred blush. On the surface of the fetus there are few subcutaneous points, they are light and slightly noticeable. The pulp of the apple has a cream color and a fine-grained texture. The fruit is dense, juicy, slightly aromatic, has a rich sweet and sour taste.

Apple Pervouralskaya: planting and care

For planting it is recommended to use annual seedlings. Experienced gardeners cut them half a meter and form four lateral skeletal branches. During the first three years of life, it is desirable to tie the plant to a cola. To locate the seedlings, they choose an open place, dig out the planting pits according to the scheme of 3x3 meters. At the bottom of the pit lay a three-year humus feces.

Top dressing is carried out mainly in the spring-summer period. After the snow cover, the plant needs nitrogen fertilizers (urea). The recommended dosage is 30-40 grams per bucket. For one adult tree you need up to four such buckets. In June, use full mineral fertilizers, and in August you need to fertilize only with phosphorus and potassium (ash).

The Pervouralskaya apple tree begins to bear fruit for the fifth year after planting. Harvest is removed at the end of September, after that the fruits ripen by December. When ripening, starch and acid particles pass into sugar, and coarse fiber softens. Later removal of fruit can worsen the value of keeping quality.

Depending on the storage conditions, apples of this variety can be eaten by the end of May. Experts recommend keeping the room temperature from 0 to +6 degrees with air humidity of about 80%.

Main advantages

Pervouralskaya apple tree reviews gardeners collected the most positive. The variety is resistant to diseases. The plant is immune to all types of scab. Trees tolerate the low temperatures of the region (below minus 40 degrees) and prolonged periods of drought.
