Akimov Andrey Igorevich was born on September 22, 1953 in St. Petersburg (Leningrad).

In 1970 he entered the International Economics Department of the Moscow Financial Academy. Education graduated in 1975 and received a diploma in banking, finance and international economics.

He began working in the largest Soviet state corporation - Vneshtorgbank of the USSR, where he worked for fourteen years from 1985 to 1999. In this organization he held managerial positions.

Two years he worked in the structure of Vneshtorgbank in Zurich. As deputy general director of the bank's branch, he headed the Swiss branch of Vneshtorgbank.
