This is a vertically growing, fleshy, very thick root, which can be as long as 1 meter. The root, as already mentioned, has an elongated shape, it is very thick, has a black-brown color, and sometimes even black. On its entire surface, numerous rootlets grow. On the fracture, it is very juicy, the inside is yellowish in color, and similar in structure to oil.

The plant itself is very similar to a vine, possesses several herbaceous stems, reaching a length of about 4 meters. Stems wind among trees and shrubs. The leaves of the thamus have the characteristic shape for dioscoreus plants. They have sharply isolated venation, the plates have an ovate shape, the base is deep-heart-shaped, and the tip is pointed. On the stalk, the leaves are arranged alternately, growing on long petioles.

Adamov's root in the field of medicine is quite popular, especially in the Caucasus. Its most common use is healing, it perfectly resolves bruises and bruises, is able to quickly heal some small wounds. With such diseases as radiculitis, rheumatism and sciatica, many doctors prescribe adam root. Its use in such diseases is only external. Sore spots are triturated with a fresh root of the plant or its decoction, as well as tincture on vodka. A solution can be made of various kinds of poultices and used for massage. Thanks to the fatty oils in the root, which improve blood circulation, the healing effect comes quickly enough. The application of the Adam's root can also be internal. Preparations from the plant have the property to restore perfectly the mucous membranes and remove all kinds of inflammatory processes.

This medicinal plant is rich in mucus, irritants and alkaloids. They all have a very beneficial effect on human health, and therefore have a wide range of uses. With such diseases as bronchitis, thrombophlebitis, hemorrhoids, varicose veins he copes perfectly. Apply a medicinal plant for diseases of the lungs and urogenital system. Since the preparations from this plant have wound-healing properties, they are indicated for various internal ulcers: stomach, duodenum. In addition, it is recommended to take as an external remedy for warts, eczema, and also this medicinal plant helps with sexual weakness.

In order to prepare medicinal preparations, the roots of the plant are used. They are excavated in autumn, they are cleaned, very quickly rinsed, and in cold water, then dried in a warm room, which is well ventilated.
