A solution of brilliant green, or "zelenka": composition, application

The so-called brilliant green - the aniline dye of the triphenylmethane series, first synthesized in Germany in 1879, is used to make "zelenki", which is familiar to most of us since childhood. This substance in dry form is a small lump or powder of golden-green color with a shiny surface. What is the "zelenka" that is bruised with abrasions? The preparation is prepared by dissolving this solid dye in water or medical alcohol. It is interesting that practically anywhere in the world, except for the countries of the former CIS, this tool is not used in medical practice, considering it ineffective and unaesthetic.

In medicine, 1-2% alcohol (less often - aqueous) solution of the brilliant green is used. This antiseptic is effective against gram-positive bacteria, it practically has no effect on gram-negative bacteria. To him are sensitive Staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus, diphtheria bacillus. "Zelenka", the composition of which is quite simple, is used to process the operating field and scars - both postoperative and post-traumatic. An alcoholic solution of a brilliant green is pinpointed with eyelids on the beginning of barley and meibomites (internal barley). This simple procedure often helps to prevent the development of the disease - the inflammation stops at the initial stage. When blepharitis (inflammation of the edges of the eyelids) is also used "zelenok". The composition of this drug, however, is such that it can cause irritation and even burn of the eye mucosa. Therefore, when lubricating eyelids, special care must be taken.

A good effect is the use of "zelenki" in the complex treatment of furunculosis, carbunculosis, pyoderma. After lubricating her skin on the affected area, a bandage with antibacterial ointment is usually applied. In severe forms of the disease, antibiotics are prescribed internally. With scratches, abrasions, wounds of a small area, the most popular remedy is also "green".

The composition of the medication makes it possible to use it even for the treatment of infants. A solution of the brilliant green is processed by the umbilical wound of a newborn baby, grease pimples and places of insect bites. When treating large surfaces, for example, with diaper rash or allergic diathesis, use 1% aqueous solution. This "zelenka" (its composition is completely harmless) will not harm the tender baby skin. Finally, this tool is smeared with "bubbles" with chickenpox: after such treatment, they not only dry up better, but also do not itch. The child less combs eruptions, they do not become infected, heal faster and leave no traces.

When treating green abrasions, babies often cry. You can try to distract the frustrated child by inviting him to paint his own skin (and eventually - the place of abrasion) in green, or together with his mother "blow" to the wound on which the "zelenok" was applied.

"What is made of zelenka?" - a long, detailed answer to the question of the baby or a fairy tale on this run, too, will help to calm him. However, it should be borne in mind that there are cases of individual intolerance to the brilliant green; Their symptoms are severe burning and itching. Therefore, with sensitive skin it is better to lubricate the child with abrasions and cuts by another means - for example, wound healing gel "Feniran".

Unlike other popular antiseptic, iodine alcohol solution, the green does not burn the skin and mucous membranes, so it can not only treat the surface around the wound, but also the wound itself. Repeated treatment is carried out with each dressing, and in the treatment of rashes or bites - as the color of "green" on the skin begins to fade.

Brilliant green should not be used together with iodine-containing medicines. Store it in a dark cool place: solutions - no more than two years, the powder does not have limitations on shelf life.
