Yuri Vardanyan: the story of life

Yuri N. Vardanyan is a Soviet weightlifter, his name is not only in the pages of history, but also in the hearts of people. I fell in love with the bar when I found out how heavy it was, and I struggled more often not with my rival, but with myself. In his character two volitional traits are combined: hard work and perseverance, he did not disappoint his people. He became an idol of many, he is a vivid example for all athletes.

Sports career

Yuri Vardanyan was born in Leninakan on July 13, 1956. From a small age, uncle, Sergey Vardanyan, coached the future champion in his gym.

He is an economist and a teacher of physical education. It would seem that nothing outstanding, no special prospects. The result - conquered the whole athletic athletic world.

Back in the army, all the colleagues were amazed at how such a small Yuri Vardanyan, whose height was only 1.71 m, could so cleverly handle the barbell. With persistence and hard work earned the title of world champion in 1975-1976. A year later he joined the national team of SRSR.

After the victory in Thessaloniki, Yuri Vardanyan confirmed his right to be on the team at the Olympiad in Moscow. The Olympic Games were to be held in the capital for the first time. No one was surprised that he got a victory here. He has 43 world records.

His only major adversary was Blagoj Blagoev. They competed for many years, until he went into a heavier category, probably to no longer meet in the same arena with Vardanyan.

Completion of sports career

Unfortunately, but the success of the "Moscow-80" was never repeated. The next Olympic Games (Los Angeles-84) he lost. Since there was a pressure from Romania, he defeated Petre Becker. This defeat undermined the spirit of Yuri. Loss of motivation - instead of a thousand words. One can only imagine what a weightlifter felt. In sport, he lasted another season. Having won in the seventh world championship, Yuri Vardanyan leaves the sports arena undefeated.

Political career

Before the collapse of the USSR, the former sportsman was a deputy in his native country, Armenia. Moving to the United States occurred in 1991. There he was engaged in the upbringing of his son Norayr, who followed in the footsteps of his father. He participated in the 2012 Olympics, which was held in London. His father was preparing it. Constantly thinking about his homeland, Yuri Vardanyan returned to Armenia in 2009. Now he is the Armenian Ambassador to Georgia.

In 2010, Yuri Vardanyan, whose biography was full of sports achievements, got into an accident. Here he was seriously injured and was comic.

2011 - the famous weightlifter is in a coma. It happened because the metal rod that was inserted into his hip fractured. A very complicated operation was performed, as a result of which he had heart problems. Therefore, the second operation had to be postponed. For a long time Yuri was in serious condition. But thanks to intensive therapy, his condition was still stabilized, and the second part of the operation was carried out successfully. A few months later Vardanyan returned to his former life.

2013 - the son of a weightlifter was arrested on the territory of Iran. He is suspected of drug trafficking. To avoid tragic consequences, he is returned to his homeland, as in Iran for such a crime provides for the death penalty. Yuri Narayvovich refuses to comment on the current Armenian-Iranian conflict. He does not approach the phone and tries to avoid journalists.

In Armenia, this is not the first time that occurs with the children of wealthy officials. Many leave their posts, but in spite of everything, Yurik Vardanyan continues to be at the top of power.

And although the bar has long been out of his hand, he has done enough for the history of world sports.
