Where is the sacrum in man

Those who do not know where the sacrum is located in a person, learn about its location, when it starts to hurt. They can occur in women waiting for a child. The sacrum is formed at a young age, when the sacral vertebrae grow together . It is necessary that the sacrum withstand the load, which will be on him when the person is vertical. The sacrum, whose anatomy is triangular in shape, has an upward-directed base, and a downward-facing apex.

The sacrum consists of the anterior, posterior and lateral surfaces. Also, the vertex and the base of the bone are considered separately.

The front surface has a concave shape. In the middle of the bone there is an intersection parallel to the transverse lines, which there are four. These are the junctions of the five fused vertebrae. On the two sides of the lines there are four sacral orifices. They have an almost circular shape. From top to bottom, each hole decreases in diameter. Through the sacrum pass the lateral arteries and the front branches of the nerves.

The rear surface has a convex shape. Its structure is rough. On the surface there are five bony scallops. The middle scallop consists of four tubercles. Sometimes it happens that all the tubercles merge into one scallop with a rough surface.

The structure of the lateral surfaces resembles a count: from above it is wide and gradually narrows downward.

The base of the sacrum connects to the V vertebra of the lower back. The junction point forms a cape, that is, a projection in the pelvic cavity. The top of the bone connects with the coccyx. The sacral canal has a connection with the pelvic bones on both sides.

From the outer part of the sacral orifices from the fusion of the sacral ribs and transverse processes of the vertebrae, its lateral parts were formed. They have articular surfaces curved in the form of the auricles , which are necessary for attachment to the iliac bones. Ligaments and muscles are attached to the sacral tuberosity. The continuation of the spinal canal is the sacral canal, which passes inside the sacrum. Due to the fact that the tail has disappeared from the man, and the tail musculature reduction occurred, the corresponding parts of his vertebrae were reduced at the site of the sacrum. In this connection, the lower part of the channel is not closed, but, on the contrary, it opens with a so-called sacral slit. A feature of anatomy is that women have a short, wide and less curved sacrum bone than men. With injuries of the part of the back where the sacrum is located, you need to contact a trauma doctor. To diagnose the disease, X-ray of the sacral region is performed.

During pregnancy, approaching childbirth, pain in the sacrum can begin if the fetus is located in the back or occipital position, when the child presses the back of the pelvis with its back of the head. There are pains in the sacrum and when the child moves from the rear position to the front. When the muscles tense during labor, too, pain can occur in the area where the sacrum is located. Help to get rid of pain can a midwife or husband. You can massage the pain zones where the sacrum is located. Massage should be performed in circular motions with the knuckles of the wrist or the fist clenched in the fist, accompanied by light pressure. The second hand needs to increase the pressure. When carrying out such a massage a woman giving birth can lie on her side or sit. As improvised means for a strong massage, a bowling ball or tennis racket can be used, but the massaged place needs to be oiled to protect the skin from damage. With a sufficiently strong pressure, the pain in the sacral part of the spine is reduced.
