What is lung sarcoma? Can I get rid of it?

In this article we will consider one of the types of malignant tumors - sarcoma. It can appear absolutely in any organ, since it originates from the connective tissue, more precisely, its cells. The human respiratory system is no exception and may also be prone to the formation of a malignant tumor. What is lung sarcoma ?

What are the varieties of sarcoma and why can it develop?

A characteristic feature of this type of oncology is the rapid development and appearance of multiple metastases. Neoplasm can localize in the upper parts of the lungs or affect the entire body. What is sarcoma, we have already considered, and what kinds of sarcoma are there? There are two groups:

  1. With a high level of malignancy.
  2. With a low level of malignancy.

Why is sarcoma of the lungs developing, it is impossible to say unequivocally, as well as about other types of cancer, but there are several factors that provoke it:

  • Exposure for a long time or exposure to large doses of radiation;
  • Poor heredity;
  • The presence of carcinogens in the air;
  • Inflammation in the lung tissue;
  • Bad habits, in particular smoking.

How can sarcoma be recognized?

Depending on the location of the tumor, its size and stage of development, the patient may experience the following symptoms:

  • Constant shortness of breath;
  • Coughing attacks;
  • Sputum, sometimes with an admixture of blood;
  • Painful sensations when swallowing;
  • The appearance of diseases of the lung tissue, such as pleurisy, pneumonia;
  • At late stages of tumor development with increasing its size there is a syndrome of compression of the superior vena cava ;
  • Standard signs of oncology: nausea, headache, bouts of vomiting, unreasonable weight loss, fever, fatigue, fatigue.

As a rule, many of the above signs of the disease are manifested only in the last stages. To determine what is sarcoma and whether it is in the patient, doctors are helped by certain studies. This is a blood test (allows to detect cancer cells), angiography (checking blood vessels responsible for blood supply to the tumor), Echo-KG (allows to identify stagnation in the right heart), radiography (allows to detect formation and its size), CT and MRI, Biopsy (allows to investigate a tumor sample taken from a patient).

Is the sarcoma of the lungs treatable?

The earlier this disease is revealed, the better. Treatment of sarcoma involves a set of measures to combat cancer. The success of medical intervention will be directly related to the stage of tumor development, the prevalence of metastases, their location and the general condition of the patient's body. In the fight against a lung tumor, a surgical method is used (in the early stages it is possible to cut the neoplasm, and at later stages it is used to relieve symptoms in the patient), chemotherapy (allows to increase life expectancy and is actively used as a supplement to the first method) and radiation therapy Allows to reduce the size of education in the preoperative period). We examined what is lung sarcoma and how it is treated.
