Weaving from newspaper tubes. Spiral weaving wreath, vases, fir-trees

In this article we will talk about how weaving from newspaper tubes. Spiral weaving is a very fascinating activity. In addition, it is not expensive and very simple. So, for work you will need:

  • Newspaper tubes. You can prepare them from ordinary newspapers, or use colorful magazines.
  • Stationery knife.
  • Scissors.
  • PVA glue. In this case, use only a thick adhesive.
  • Paints. They are only needed if you need to paint your product. Suitable for this purpose and iodine, zelenka, food colors, stain, gouache, hair dye, etc.
  • Varnish for wood. Used absolutely any.
  • Shape for braiding.

How does weaving from newspaper tubes

Spiral weaving begins with the preparation of newspaper tubes. For any crafts, they need to be wound as much as possible, because if you continue your work, then they will be useful to you in the future:

  1. So, take the newspaper, cut it with a clerical knife into 4 or 2 equal parts (this depends on the required thickness) and make the blanks.
  2. We begin to twist the cut sheets into thin tubes at an angle of 30 °. To do this, you can use a thin rod from the handle.
  3. Twisting begins at any angle. By the way, many use for a twisting a spoke or a skewer. At the end, the tip of the newspaper is fixed with glue.

It is worth remembering one important rule - the tube should be twisted in such a way that one end remains thin, and the second gradually expands. This is necessary so that during the weaving process it is possible to enlarge the tube by inserting a thin one into the wide edge, having previously smeared it with a little glue.

Do not try to immediately increase the workpiece by a meter length, when weaving from newspaper tubes. Spiral weaving in this case will be inconvenient. It is better to add length gradually. As soon as you run out of a tube, spread a little glue on one end of it, insert it into the other and press it gently. And after 20-30 seconds you can continue weaving from newspaper tubes.

Spiral weaving is best done using the base. It can be anything. For example, for vases it is better to use an ordinary plastic bottle, but for stability, you can just type water into it. It is necessary to braid at the same time as tightly as possible to the base.

After the product is ready, it must be painted. You can do this by anything, up to the enamel. You can leave the product and white, but for strength you should cover with varnish. In these cases, you can use any varnish for wood surfaces. It provides the product with durability and durability, and practically equates it to wooden baskets. Many use lacquer as the main stage of painting, just adding the necessary shade to it. Colors are obtained original, and, in addition, it saves time.

If you want to use weaving from newspaper tubes (spiral weaving), having previously painted the details, then it's best to start with a few of them. Since it is possible at the time of staining, the tubes will become soft, and it will be simply inconvenient to operate them.

Make a wreath of newspaper tubes

For wreath weaving you will need a cylindrical base. For this, a can of varnish or shaving foam can be used. It fuses as follows:

  1. Crossing on the table two tubes from the newspaper and at intervals add one more, so we get the appearance of a snowflake with 8 ends.
  2. In the middle of the snowflake we put our base and begin to braid the cylinder. We take one end of any tube (the whole spiral weaving structure starts from it) and, braiding the end of the next newspaper tube on the right side, we lower it down. The first pair of rows is done very carefully, since the construction is not strong. Right hand is to weave, and left to tightly press the structure to the surface.
  3. With the braided end we wrap the next tube on the right side. Such actions are done with all the tubes until they run out. If you see that you do not have enough length for the subsequent bending, increase it as we advised earlier.

How long it is to make a cylinder, see for yourself. If you do not have enough height of the base, then just pull it out gradually from braiding.

To make a wreath from newspaper tubes with a spiral weave, after reaching the required length, connect it to a circle. To do this, glue together with hot glue the bottom of the structure with the top. After fixing, cut the scissors with unnecessary ends. By the way, many people use wire or thick threads instead of hot glue. Do not forget to cover the wreath with varnish and zadekoriruyte to your liking.

Spiral weaving from newspaper tubes: vases

Vases are woven like a wreath. As a basis, you can use any glass vessel or vase. For stability, they must be filled with water. For the base we use 3 tubes, we arrange them, crossed each other. The ends leave at equal distance from each other and start to braid similarly to the wreath, tightly pressing the braiding structure to the base. To the top, the product can be narrowed or expanded.

Finished product can be painted and varnished. This option will look original with beautiful wildflowers.

Herringbone of newspaper tubes

Finally, about how the simplest product is made - a Christmas tree made of newspaper tubes. Spiral weaving in this case is similar to a vase and a wreath. For the base, the cone is taken and it is also braided.

To do this, take 4 tubes from the newspaper. They can be glued together with hot glue to each other and gradually taper the cone shape. And after the end of the work, fix the tips with glue and color the finished Christmas tree in green.

All the finished works decorate. To do this, you can use options for decoupage. Apply embellishment embroideries, ribbons and much more. Fantasize, and your work will be unique!
