As a stylus, the user applies a finger here, and can perform all the same actions that a normal mouse is capable of. Nowadays, there are a lot of different touch screens - capacitive, matrix, infrared, etc.

Getting Started

To get a homemade touch screen, you will need scissors, a sheet of white paper, a webcam (the cheapest and ordinary), a pencil, a photo frame with a glass, a cardboard box.

Process of creation

A white sheet of paper is inserted into the photo frame. In the bottom of the cardboard box, make a small hole exactly in the center. In the future, a web camera will be inserted there. It must be said that cellulose, which is present in paper, creates some inaccuracy during operation, so instead of usually office paper it is more rational to apply white matte acrylic. In the hole, set the webcam so that it looks directly at the white sheet of paper (or acrylic), which is superimposed on top. Glass surface down on a cardboard box we put a frame for photos, closing, as if with a lid. That's all, your multitouch is ready. Tap on it with your finger. Working? Of course not. After all, you still have to connect and configure the webcam.

Customize the touch screen

With the connection of the webcam, there should not be any complications. And in order for your multitouch to work properly, you need a special software. On the Internet you can search and download a special program - a virtual driver for your operating system. When the webcam management software is started, set the black and white mode on the Properties tab. Using the brightness, gamma and contrast indicator, we leave only black and white stains visible in places where the finger pad touches the screen.

I hope you did not forget that our downloaded dwiver is not yet activated. After activation, enable "Track dark" and "Use camera". Calibrate horizontally and make sure that the finger movements on the image and in the separation are the same.

In order for the program to work correctly, determine the work area as precisely as possible. Using the program, set the finger in the upper left corner and place a dot on the paper. With the four remaining points do the same, connect to the surface. Calibrate it. To do this, enter the letter "c" on the keyboard and watch the points that the computer monitor offers us. When everything is ready, we press the spacebar, we activate all the drivers, and then we can enjoy controlling the computer using the homemade touch screen.
