The Yaroslavl History Museum is a popular vacation spot for citizens and visitors

The museum of the history of the city of Yaroslavl is quite young, in comparison with other similar complexes, in 2015 he celebrated the thirtieth anniversary. But, despite this, it has a rich exposition and is in demand both among the townspeople and visitors.

How this museum was created

This complex began its existence in 1985 as a branch of the regional architectural and historical museum reserve, but in 1998 it acquired the status of a municipal institution. It was then that his new life began. In less than a year, the building was completely restored, all internal premises were repaired, and in May 1999 the complex again opened its doors to visitors.

The historical museum (Yaroslavl), whose photo is in the article, is located in the former estate of the merchant of the first guild of Vasily Kuznetsov, an honorary citizen of the city.

After the October Revolution of 1917, the Mother and Child Home settled here, since 1947 the estate has been transferred to the eye and surgical department of the First City Hospital, and since 1985 a museum of the history of the city of Yaroslavl has been housed in a two-story building.

Exhibitions and Expositions

The main concept of the museum was chosen by the person himself as a person, his place in the history of the city was shown, and much attention was paid to the influence of Yaroslavl himself on the history of Russia.

Halls from the first to the sixth are devoted to the events of the city from the date of its foundation to the present. All exhibits in them are presented in strict chronological order, which makes it possible to trace the chain of events from the beginning and to grasp the dependence and influence of one episode on the formation of the entire historical picture.

In addition, in the complex there are halls dedicated to:

• Outstanding citizens-contemporaries;
• International relations of the city, its friendship and cooperation with other countries - Great Britain, United States, Finland, France, Portugal, Germany;
• The great labor achievements of Yaroslavl;
• Achievements of local medicine (this room is open from 2012).

Also in the museum there is an art gallery, where works of artists are displayed, reflecting how they see their native Yaroslavl. Photo canvases are also collected in a separate album with views of the city. This collection is constantly updated with paintings and graphics of young talented artists.

Where is the museum, working hours, ticket prices

The Yaroslavl History Museum can be found on the Volga embankment, 17. There is no public transport in this area, therefore visitors get here on foot from Bogoyavlenskaya Square or Volkov Square, which can be reached by bus, trolley or taxi.

Before the stop, Bogoyavlenskaya Square will be taken to:

• Buses under the numbers 4, 13, 14, 16, and also 41 and 72;
• Trolleybuses under numbers 5 or 6.

Before the stop "Volkov Square", in turn, will deliver:

• Buses under the numbers 14, 21 (letter B), 33, 44 (letter K) and 140;
• Trolleybus number 1;
• Route taxi numbers 36, 37, 46, 47, as well as 51, 61, 71, 98 and 99.

The Yaroslavl City History Museum is open every day (except Tuesday) from 10:00 to 18:00, but you will not be able to buy a ticket at the ticket office until 17:00.

Prices for entrance tickets are quite democratic: from 40 to 130 rubles per visitor, while children under 7 years visit the historical museum for free. There are also preferential days:

• Every last Monday in the month the complex is free to visit children under 18;
• May 18 - the doors of the museum are open absolutely free to all comers;
• On June 1 - on Children's Day, those who are not yet 18 years of age have the right to enter the building free of charge;
• October 1 - free attendance of expositions for pensioners.

From 70 to 140 rubles are services of a guide for a group of 15 people, if the group is less, the cost of an hour of the excursion is from 680 to 1360 rubles.

Also here for adults and children various master classes, concerts and exhibitions are arranged, employees read interesting lectures about the history of the city. The cost of each such event must be specified separately at the ticket office.
