The photographer travels to New Zealand in the costume of Gandalf, and his pictures are beautiful!

New Zealand is invariably associated with Middle-earth from JRR Tolkien's novel The Lord of the Rings. It was there that the famous trilogy was filmed. Going to a six-month journey through the country, famous for its fabulous scenery, a young photographer from India Ahil Sukhas did not ignore this fact and created a really unusual photo project, which gave the name "Gandalf-guide".

Best Guide to New Zealand

Sukhas originally wanted to do something unique that would have allocated it from a huge number of photographers who visited New Zealand for the sake of amazing staff.

In all his photos there was to be a general detail that would make of them something special.

Before leaving in search of a cherished idea, the young man revised the "Lord of the Rings" for the fifth time. After all, he knew that New Zealand is known not only for its magnificent views, but also for the events that take place in the trilogy screening against their background.

Why not combine the Tolkien saga and local beauty, the photographer thought, and decided to put in the frame of one of its central characters - Gandalf.

And really, who else could become a guide to New Zealand, if not a great magician? After all, he traveled through the expanse of Middle-earth for more than 2000 years and knows absolutely everything about him!

Taking with him the sorcerer's costume, Sukhas went on a journey of 15 thousand km to realize his idea.

At first he acted in the image of the famous hero and tried to photograph himself with the help of a timer. However, the young man did not succeed in making self-portraits.

Then the resourceful photographer suggested that local residents for a while reincarnate in Gandalf and take part in the project.

Surprisingly, no man refused to try on the image of the Tolkien wizard, thanks to which Sukhas, traveling through "Middle-earth", managed to create a unique photo project.
