"Furadonin" (indications for use will be considered a little lower) is a drug from the group of nitrofurans, which disrupts the synthesis of the protein in bacteria and the permeability of their cell membrane, while providing bacteriostatic and bactericidal effect. This agent has activity against such microorganisms as streptococcus, salmonella, staphylococcus and others. In clinical studies, the highest antibacterial efficacy of this drug has long been proven.

Medication "Furadonin": indications for use

The instructions for this tool include the following:

  • Treatment of inflammatory and infectious pathologies of the urinary tract and kidneys, which are caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug "Furadonin". Such deviations include pyelitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis and cystitis.
  • Prevention of infectious pathologies that occur after urological operations, catheterization or cystoscopy.

What are the other uses of the drug "Furadonin", the indication for which is quite wide? These are also diseases that are caused by microbes resistant to the antibiotic "Levomycetin" or other medications.

Contraindications

According to the instructions, the presented tool is not recommended if you have:

  • Deficiency of G6FD;
  • Sensitivity to a component such as nitrofurantoin;
  • hepatitis;
  • Heart failure, taking place in chronic form;
  • cirrhosis of the liver;
  • Renal failure (chronic);
  • Porphyria (acute).

Also, "Furadonin" (the indications were described above) are undesirable to take during the baby's breast-feeding, during pregnancy and in infancy up to 1 month.

Adverse events

During the reception of this remedy, the patient may experience the following side effects:

  • Allergic reactions, namely rash, arthralgia, eosinophilia, lupus-like syndrome, myalgia, anaphylaxis or angioedema;
  • Vomiting, headaches, dizziness;
  • Pseudomembranous enterocolitis, dyspnea, nystagmus;
  • Bronchoobstructive, cholestatic syndrome, nausea;
  • Fever, drowsiness, pain in the chest, cough;
  • Pancreatitis, hepatitis, pulmonary tissue changes (interstitial);
  • Asthenia, peripheral neuropathy.

How to take "Furadonin"?

This medication should be taken orally. Tablet "Furadonin" should be washed down with a glass of drinking water. A single dose of this drug is from 0.11 to 0.15 g (four times a day). The daily dosage of "Furadonin" should not exceed 0.6 g. The course of treatment with this drug is 1 week. If longer therapy is required, you should always consult a doctor.
