Textiles in the interior: fabrics for flock furniture upholstery

Without which it is impossible to imagine a modern living room? Of course, without upholstered furniture, which is not only necessary for a comfortable rest after a busy work day, but also serves as an ornament of the interior.

It is soft furniture in the process of exploitation is subjected to significant loads, as all family members, including pets, spend most of their free time on it. To soft furniture with dignity withstood all the tests, it is subject to increased demands, and the most important of them are reliability, strength and comfort. And here we are talking not only about the design of the sofa itself - increased requirements are also imposed on the coating.

What should be an upholstery fabric

The fabric intended for upholstery of furniture, should be strong, wear-resistant, practical, mud-and water-repellent, easy-care. And also it should not burn out under the influence of sun rays, be pleasant to the touch, bright and beautiful. All these requirements are met by flock fabrics, which are very widely used in furniture production.

Similar material was used in China as far back as the 1st century BC - mention of this has come to this day. It was there that for the first time this interesting technology was developed for gluing the ground lint to a woven base. The art of making fabrics without a loom became known to Europeans only in the Middle Ages.

In modern production, flock fabrics are made, of course, somewhat differently, but at the heart of all the same lies the way invented by the Chinese more than two thousand years ago. Now, for the production of flock, a method is used for spraying pile particles onto an adhesive layer applied to a woven base. Under the influence of an electrostatic field, these particles are adhered evenly and strictly vertically.

Flock is also called a substitute for velvet, since short villi, glued to the base, successfully mimic the structure of this fabric. Flock is a material based on 65% polyester and 35% cotton, and this appliqué is applied with short villi. Vorsinki can be both natural and synthetic, for example, from nylon. These very villi also give the surface of the material a velvety and soft texture, because the furniture fabric - flock - got its name not by chance. This word is translated from German as "flakes" or "snowflakes".

When choosing a new sofa, pay special attention to the fabric for furniture. Flock is an excellent choice, it's not for nothing that this material has been one of the most popular in furniture production for many years. This fabric is not only resistant to abrasion, but also not afraid of spilled liquids on it, since it is treated with water-repellent impregnation - this is very important when there are small children in the house. Do not be afraid of her and cat's claws - this is one of the coatings, which refers to the so-called fabrics "anti-smoking".

Undoubted dignity of flock is a variety of colors - it's classic, and abstraction, and modern. You can choose the coloring for every taste, especially since many furniture salons offer to choose the material for the upholstery and order a soft furniture set in the color range that suits your interior.

Flock fabrics are very easy to care for. To remove dust from the coating, simply vacuum it. If the fabric needs to be cleaned, it can be treated with a detergent, and you should not use products containing alcohol or solvents.
