Tariff grid - what is it and what is it for?

At the heart of the concept of wages is the tariff scale. The tariff system is necessary for the formation of wages and is used to distribute works in complexity, and employees - according to their qualifications. It consists of tariff grids, rates, qualification characteristics and salary schemes according to the posts.

Tariff rate of the employee having the first rank should be higher than the minimum wage established by the legislation. Tariff grid is a system that allows you to differentiate your pay depending on how difficult the work is performed and what qualifications the employees have.

The employer, together with the supervisory authority or a representative of the trade union organization, assigns certain categories to employees on the basis of a tariff-qualification handbook. They also determine to which tariff category the particular type of work belongs. The wage rate network includes qualification grades and corresponding tariff coefficients that determine the amount of rates.

Algorithm for assigning a new category

An employee has the right to qualify for an upgrade of the qualification level if the level of his knowledge corresponds to the stated requirements, and he performs his duties in good faith and responsibly. Increase the discharge can and those workers who for three months successfully performed the work of a higher level and passed the exam. For breaches of duties that entailed a malfunction in the production or presence of a marriage, the qualification rank may be reduced. To restore his worker will be able in the generally established order not earlier than three months later.

The discharge increase has a common order in all enterprises:

  • The employee, with the permission of the direct supervisor, must write a statement and justify his opinion. The council of the production brigade puts a visa on it.
  • The next step is to collect the commission. It includes representatives of the administration of the firm and the trade union organization, specialists, masters and workers with the highest category.
  • Check of knowledge of the worker applying for increase, is carried out on the basis of the tariff-qualifying directory.
  • After the exam, a discharge is assigned, which is confirmed by the protocol of the commission and the order on the enterprise. There is a mandatory entry in the workbook.

Tariff-qualified directory has for each profession three groups:

  • "Characteristics of work." It indicates the complexity of work, production conditions, technological level and the necessary degree of independence in the performance of labor duties.
  • "Must know". In this section there is a list of necessary knowledge, skills and skills.
  • "Work examples". As a visual aid, typical assignments and jobs for a particular category can be indicated.

Purpose of the tariff grid

Tariff system - these are the norms that provide differentiated wages . Norms and requirements can be set both centrally and locally.

Tariff grid is characterized by the following indicators:

  • Ratio of tariff coefficients, which are assigned to the extreme categories.
  • The number of digits.
  • The nature of the increase in the coefficients.

Tariff ratio is an indication of the relative level of payment. Its value can vary from discharge to discharge.

Types of tariff grids

Tariff grids vary depending on the nature of the increase in the coefficients:

  • Uniform.
  • Regressive.
  • Progressive.
  • Combined.

Unified tariff grids

Most often, enterprises use a grid of six categories. The simplest requirements and duties correspond to the first category and lower wages. The sixth category requires high qualification and competence of the employee.

Tariff grids are used not only for setting salaries for working specialties, but also for other spheres, for example, budgetary. The unified tariff scale includes 18 ranks. The coefficient of the first rank is 4.5.

In one organization there can be several tariff grids: for normal working conditions and heavy. The grid determines the rules by which wages are paid within a particular qualifying group.

Value of the tariff grid

Tariff grid, the importance of which is difficult to overestimate both in social and economic spheres, is widely used at many enterprises. It allows to observe the unity of the measure of labor and payment, to realize the principle of differentiated wages and to allow people to pay wages depending on the quality of labor.

Tariff grid plays a motivational role for employees: the higher the qualification, the larger the salary.

Types of tariff rates

Tariff rate differs by types:

  • Monthly.
  • Daytime.
  • Sentinels.

They are the basis for determining the size of the salary of labor for workers-peremennikov or piece-workers. It is established taking into account the minimum payment at the enterprise, qualifications and various payment gaps. The tariff rate allows for inter-industry and intra-branch differentiation of wages. Workers of the industry who serve modern and high-performance equipment have an increased salary. Interindustry regulation is as follows: a higher tariff rate is set in more demanded and leading spheres.

In order to establish tariff rates at the enterprise, it is necessary to assess the complexity of the work, the working conditions, the significance of the activity and the required qualifications of the employees.
