Stickers for clothes: what they are and how to make them yourself

When the child grows up and becomes more or less independent, parents give it to the kindergarten. Here the kid makes his first steps towards independence: he learns to make friends with other children and settle the conflicts that have arisen, and also learns to dress and serve himself.

Also in the kindergarten the child is faced with the need to distinguish their belongings from others, and sometimes it is quite difficult to do. To help a little man, parents use different methods: sign things, embroider on them the name of a crumb or attach special stickers to clothes. The latter method has gained popularity relatively recently, and every day more and more parents use it: it's not only pretty quickly, but also convenient.

Ways of marking things

There are many different ways to identify the owner of a thing. The easiest way is to sign a pen. However, not all types of handles are well written on the fabric, the inscription can turn out to be illegible. In addition, during washing some ink can be erased, others - shed and spoil a good thing. In such cases, you need to purchase a special marker for the fabric.

You can do, like our grandmothers in the old days, - embroider the baby's name on clothes. However, this will be a fairly long process, even with a sewing machine. In addition, products made from thin fabrics (like, for example, pantyhose) are not well tolerated. Also, this method is poorly applicable to shoes. In most large sewing shops, you can find ready-made tags on which the name is written, and they are easily sewn or glued using iron in things.

Some mothers write on adhesive plasters or paper stickers, and before washing they are removed. This method is not suitable for pantyhose, linen and shoes. In addition, the clothes can remain traces of glue and spoil the thing. The most progressive and convenient way of marking things of a child to date are stickers for clothes. They are perfect for even the thinnest fabrics and linens, do not spoil the materials and do not wash out.

Why do I need stickers for clothes for children

Marking of clothes, shoes and other things of the child in kindergarten and school is necessary not only for himself, but also for educators. After all, the kid himself often can not say exactly what he was wearing in the morning. In addition, clothing, hats and shoes can often be the same, and only thanks to the inscription it will be possible to distinguish between where. The main advantage of stickers, in addition to their convenience, simplicity and durability - on it you can not only write the name and surname of the crumbs, but also apply some small drawing. On it the kid learns his clothes, because to read children at this age, as a rule, do not yet know how.

Types of stickers for clothes

There are different types of labels. The most common - it's stickers for clothes made with thermal transfer paper. Such labels can easily be transferred to clothing with iron. Thermotransfer stickers come in several varieties: for natural / synthetic, for light / dark fabrics.

Also, there are glow-in-the-dark and reflective stickers on clothes for children. As a rule, they are used only for outerwear. In addition, they are made of dense fabric of silvery color. Such stickers often need to be applied in specialized institutions on special equipment, since the upper reflective layer is very fragile. Reflective stickers are most often used for clothes of children of school age who ride on bicycles, scooters or roller skates and may be on the roadway.

By the way, do not confuse stickers on clothes with self-adhesive tags. After all, most stickers are a very thin film with an image or an inscription that perfectly tolerates washing and is almost imperceptible on clothes. At the same time, self-adhesive labels are made of different types of fabric with a layer of glue that is activated at high temperature.

How to stick stickers on clothes

Selecting stickers as a way of marking clothes, you can order them in specialized salons. There you can discuss the design, font and size of the picture. For an additional fee, salon workers themselves can transfer stickers to clothes or give finished products to the customer, so that he tackles them himself. This is done very simply.

If the label is intended for light fabrics, then the image on it is printed in mirror reflection. It needs to be put on a dry ironed cloth with a picture down and thoroughly ironed, straightening all the details. Then gently remove the top layer of paper. If everything is done correctly, a thin transparent film with a pattern and an inscription will remain on the fabric. If the thermal transfer sticker is intended for dark or colored fabrics, the picture on it will be printed in the usual form. With such a sticker, the bottom layer of paper is carefully peeled off, and the sticker itself is laid out on a dry ironed cloth. In the set of the label will be a special paper, which the image is covered and then carefully ironed. After the paper is removed, and the image remains firmly attached to the fabric. It is worth remembering that the fabric must be necessarily dry, otherwise the sticker may stick or paint badly.

How to make stickers for clothes with your own hands

If desired, you can make a sticker on your clothes with your own hands. For this, a sheet of thermal transfer paper of the required type is bought in any photo store. Next, you can bring a ready-made layout to the flash drive and ask to print. Or, if you have your own printer at home, you can print it on it. It is worth remembering that the image on labels for light fabrics (regardless of the type of printer - laser / inkjet) is always printed in reverse, and for color - in the usual form.

Having understood what are the ways of marking clothes, as well as what are called stickers for clothes (appliqués, transfers, stickers - several names) and how to properly glue them with iron, it is worth trying to move from theory to practice. And try to create a unique sticker design for your kid's clothes. In addition, after training on the labeling stickers, you can try your hand at creating your own design of stickers for T-shirts not only of the child, but also of the adult members of the family.
