Spleen rupture

The spleen is a relatively small organ (roughly the human fist) that is located on the left in the abdominal cavity. The spleen is formed by two types of tissue: white and red pulp. The role of this small organ in the work of the immune system can not be overestimated. Immune cells surrounding the blood vessels of the spleen remove abnormal microorganisms and cells from the blood. The spleen, as it were, protects our body from the ingress of foreign substances and alien substances into it. That is why any spleen injury jeopardizes our painless condition.

There are two types of pathologies of this important organ: enlargement and rupture of the spleen. In this article I would like to pay more attention to the second kind.

Spleen rupture is a very dangerous injury that requires emergency medical care. When such a condition occurs, blood from the injured organ enters directly into the abdominal cavity. The main causes of rupture of the spleen are any trauma (often sports) and an automobile accident. Damage to the tissue or shell of the spleen can cause any more or less severe impact in the abdominal area or a strong compression.

Prevent this dangerous injury can only avoid provoking situations, and this in life is almost impossible. When doing sports, it is important not to neglect special protective devices that can soften the impact force and prevent the rupture of the spleen.

It is possible to diagnose the rupture of the spleen only in a hospital as a result of procedures or computed tomography that can determine if there is blood in the abdominal cavity. However, it is possible to assume this condition even earlier, knowing the symptoms.

Spleen rupture: symptoms

The main thing that needs to be remembered is to assume a rupture of the spleen only if there was a blow to the body or its compression. With this diagnosis, there will be a strong pain in the abdomen, mainly in the zone of the upper left square. The pain may be aching or acute. The area of the stomach also often becomes painful.

Another brightest sign is a deterioration in the quality of sight. This can be manifested by a fuzzy visual picture, flashes of light in the field of vision.

The mental state of the victim changes, even to confusion and complete disorientation.

A man with a rupture of the spleen complains of weakness, thirst, dizziness. In some cases, fainting, nausea and vomiting are possible.

Even with external examination, the severity of the patient's condition is evident. He poured cold sweat, skin pale, limbs cold. Characterized by superficial rapid breathing, lowering blood pressure, tachycardia.

Medical aid for rupture of the spleen

As a rule, such a pathology requires surgical intervention, as a result of which the spleen is removed. Although sometimes it can still be saved. The outcome of the operation depends on the injury received and the speed of delivery of the victim to the hospital.

Of course, one can live without a spleen, but its absence greatly affects the quality of this life itself: often there are various complications, immunity decreases significantly, and, accordingly, the probability of picking up any disease that will be difficult to combat is increased. To somehow help, such people are recommended regular vaccination against many diseases.

Be attentive to yourself and those who are near you. Sometimes, there is a lack of human participation, a desire to help, in time to deliver the victim to the operating table, thereby saving not only a single organ taken, but also life itself.

Health to you and your loved ones!
