Sliding Systems: Defining Style

Want to find an original and practical way to properly equip the space of your home? This will help you with sliding systems - with them any room will look stylish and unusual.

What is the difference between sliding systems and conventional doors? First of all, they save space in small rooms. If the swinging door in small rooms interferes, then the sliding door is easily located in the right place. Such systems are indispensable for dividing a large room or connecting two small ones. They perfectly close the wide openings and simultaneously visually expand the room. And of course, we should not forget about the aesthetic component: these doors look very impressive.

Sliding systems can be divided into two main types: doors and partitions. How do they differ? Sliding doors are placed in place of a standard door, and partitions are designed to cover an entire room or a large opening.

What is included in the sliding systems

Firstly, this door leaf, like any other door. What is it made of? The most expensive is an array of hardwoods: oak, beech, etc. The door from veneer is cheaper and more popular: an array of less valuable wood species - spruce, pine, cedar or larch - is lined with sheets of the same beech or oak. Secondly, in the sliding systems there is an accessories: handles and locks. But their most interesting feature is the mechanism that allows the door to move.

Often, glass inserts are made in sliding systems. It can be matte or glossy, transparent or vice versa. Glass gives room for your imagination: you can decorate it as you like, even insert real or stylized stained glass. If you are worried about the safety of children or pets, choose tempered glass: it's harder to break, but even if it happens, it will not break into pieces.

How long will the sliding systems work?

The service life of structures from the array depends on external conditions: if the room is too wet or dry, the tree may dry up or vice versa - swell. Veneered doors are not as sensitive to climate, but they are less durable. It is very important to choose the right door mechanism: it must be quality and very durable to work every day for many years.

How correctly to calculate the width of the doorway for the sliding system?

If you have already decided to buy a sliding system, the most important thing is to competently measure the opening. The place ready for installation needs to be carefully measured, and as a result, it is possible to calculate all the parameters of the future door or partition. It must be taken into account that the door is sliding apart: so with a door width of 700 mm you will need 731 mm more free space on the wall, with a maximum opening width of 570 mm. These calculations are correct for single-leaf construction. For a similar bivalve: the total width along the wall is 2,732 mm, the width of the opening is 1,200 mm.

What should I focus on if you decide to purchase a sliding door or partition?

  1. Carefully choose the material of the door leaf. Each material has its own peculiarities and finenesses of care: its pluses and minuses are both at the doors of the array, and in veneered structures.
  2. Examine the accessories. Remember that the mechanism of the door ensures its mobility and durability.
  3. General style. Sliding design is able to set the mood of an entire room - classic and strict or fresh and modern.

But even if you have made all the necessary measurements and chose the best, in your opinion, door, it still needs to be correctly and correctly installed - it is difficult and requires professional skills and knowledge. Therefore, choose the performer with the same care as the manufacturer.
