Real sea monsters (photo)

Surely many heard, and someone saw a photo of sea monsters. However, most people consider them fictional, a kind of "scary". Is it really? We will discuss this in our article.

Prehistoric sea monsters

We will begin our conversation by getting acquainted with animals that have already disappeared from our planet. Millions of years ago, huge sea monsters lived in the depths of the seas and oceans. One of them is dacosaurus. His remains were first discovered in Germany. Then they were found on quite a vast territory - from Russia to Argentina.

Sometimes it is compared to a modern crocodile, with the only difference being that the dacosaur reached five meters in length. His powerful teeth and jaws gave researchers a reason to assert that it was the chief marine predator of its time.

Notosaurus

These sea monsters were slightly smaller than the dacosaur. Their bodies did not exceed four meters in length. But the notosaurus was also a formidable and aggressive predator. Its main weapon was externally directed teeth. The diet of these animals consisted of fish and squid. Scientists claim that the notosaurs attacked their prey from an ambush. With a smooth reptilian body, they creeped silently to the prey, attacked and ate it. Notosaurs were close relatives of the pliosaurs (a species of deep sea predators). As a result of the study of fossil remains, it became apparent that these sea monsters lived during the Triassic period.

Mozazavr

They were real sea monsters. The monsters reached a length of fifteen meters. They lived in the underwater world during the Cretaceous period. The head of these giants resembled the head of a modern crocodile, their jaws were armed with hundreds of sharp teeth. Thanks to this, the predator could kill even very reliably protected opponents.

10 horrendous sea monsters

We told you about several prehistoric animals. Do such creatures inhabit underwater world today? It turns out, yes. And even if they are not as huge as their ancestors, but are capable of provoking their appearance if not panic, then astonishment for sure. We will introduce to you 10 marine monsters.

Shchuchya sea dog

While this fish does not open its mouth, it does not stand out among ordinary inhabitants of the sea, although it has wrinkled cheeks as strange as an old man's. But when she opens her mouth, she instantly becomes an awesome monster, who is ready to swallow everything that only meets on his way.

This creature is territorial. Huge mouth pike sea dogs are used in a clash with fellow tribesmen, although their battles in the struggle for territory, or rather, the water area, are more like clashes of two parachutes.

Sea Flytrap

At first glance, it seems that these creatures came to us from another planet.

However, no. They live in deep-sea canyons in the water area of California. Shells (second name) - predators, in appearance resembling carnivorous plants flytrap. They live in the depths of the sea, fixing on the bottom, waiting for an unsuspecting victim to float next to their glowing gaping mouth. As soon as she approaches, the shell instantly grabs it. This way of hunting does not allow these creatures to be too fastidious in eating.

Shells, outwardly reminiscent of extraterrestrial forms of life, have the amazing property of multiplying without mating with other individuals - they produce both sperm and eggs at the same time.

Fish attacking from below

Representatives of Astroscopus guttatus are real sea monsters. The second name of this creature is the speckled astrologer. It would seem that such a nickname can be worn by some small fry with large eyes, but this creation does not fit such description.

Not having the most attractive appearance, the speckled astrologer spends most of the time on the seabed, buried in mud, and observes from below all that moves nearby. He has above his eyes special organs that emit electrical discharges.

Ilgalot

This creature refers to the mechkrotoid, a group of radiant fishes. It has adapted to live in great depth. Against the backdrop of the huge jaws, the body of the ilohlot seems disproportionately small. These fish do not have scales, ribs, a swimming bladder, pyloric appendages, abdominal and caudal fins. Most of the skull bones are reduced or completely disappeared. The surviving skeleton is difficult to compare with that of other fish to establish kinship. The slight similarity of the fry-flecked fry with the leptoceramuses of eels allows one to assume certain "family ties" between the species mentioned.

Morena

These huge sea monsters frighten and fascinate at the same time. They can grow up to three meters and weigh over fifty kilograms. The diver with experience to the moron will never come nearer. These are extremely dangerous predatory fish. They attack lightning fast. Cases of deaths from attacks have been recorded. They look like snakes. But the danger of moray eels is not covered in a poisonous bite, as they believed in antiquity. Instantly, this predator can tear the human flesh, and so much that the diver dies, bleeding.

Fish-Drop

A list of 10 terrifying sea monsters continues deep-sea drop fish. Close-set small eyes and large mouth with the corners lowered, remind the face of a sad person. Fish lives at a depth of one and a half kilometers.

Outwardly it is a gelatinous formless lump. The density of the body of this creature is slightly less than the density of water. Due to this, the drop overcomes long distances, swallowing everything edible on its way, without spending much effort.

The strange shape of the body and the lack of scales put this species in danger of extinction. Living off the coast of Australia and Tasmania, drop-fish often falls into fishing nets, and it is sold as a souvenir.

While laying eggs, the drop sits on the eggs for a long time, and then carefully takes care of the fry. She tries to find for them uninhabited and deaf places at depth. Fish protects its offspring, providing it with safety, and helps to survive in difficult conditions. In nature, it does not have natural enemies, but, as already mentioned, a drop can accidentally, along with algae, get into the network of fishermen.

Gunch Fish

This creature, which is found in the river Kali (between Nepal and India), loves the taste of human meat. Its weight reaches 140 kilograms. On a person can attack not only in a secluded place, but also with a large crowd of people. They say that the craving for humanity gunch began to be felt because of ... the customs of the man himself. For a long time the river Kali is used by local residents to "burial" bodies of the deceased. Partially burned corpses are thrown into the river after Hindu rituals.

Stone-fish, or wart

This is one of the most strange and dangerous species of fish. Wart is considered one of the most poisonous in the world. Usually she lives in coral reefs. Full similarity with the stone allows this creature to remain invisible until the moment you step on it. And this step can be the last. The stone-fish has a very powerful poison, so its bite often becomes fatal. Signs of intoxication persist for long hours, as a result, a person dies in horrible tortures. The antidote does not exist yet.

This dangerous werewolf can be found in shallow waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, as well as in the waters of the Red Sea, off the coast of Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, the Marshall Islands, Samoa and Fiji.

Rauaga

This mackerel hydrolyte is known as a vampire fish. Sometimes it is called a fish-dog. It is so bloodthirsty that it is considered much more dangerous than piranhas. The creature's body is just over a meter. Rauaga lives in South America and Venezuela.

These bloodthirsty creatures pose a threat not only to humans. Fish-vampire - perhaps, the only individual that can cope with piranhas.

The angler (the angler)

In the seas and oceans there is one of the rarest deep-sea animals, which has an ugly appearance - the sea features. It is also called a piercer. The monster was first discovered in 1891. The fish lack scales, and its place is occupied by ugly growths and knolls. The mouth of this monster is surrounded by swaying rags of skin that resemble algae. Dark coloring gives the angler a shabby appearance. The giant head and huge mouth slit make this deep-sea animal the ugliest on our planet.

The fleshy and long process, which sticks out of the head of the angler, serves as a bait. This is a very serious threat to fish. The sea features lures its victim with the light of a "fishing rod", which is equipped with a special gland. He lures her to his mouth, forcing her on her own initiative to swim inside. The anglers are extremely greedy. Often they attack prey, which at times exceeds their size. With unsuccessful hunting, both die: victim - from death wounds, aggressor - from suffocation.

The huge monsters of the sea - mesonitevis

This squid is colossal in size. They are distinguished by a streamlined body shape that allows them to move at high speed. The eye of this sea monster reaches 60 centimeters in diameter. For the first time a giant inhabitant of the sea depths was described in documents dated 1925. They indicate that the fishermen discovered huge tentacles of squid (1.5 m) in the stomach of the sperm whale. A representative of these mollusks (weighing more than a hundred kilograms and a length of more than four meters) was thrown out to the shores of Japan. It was a young specimen. Scientists believe that an adult squid reaches five meters in size, and the weight of the carcass in this case can be about 200 kilograms.

Isopod

The isopods are remarkable sizes (huge size cancers). In length they reach 1.5 m and weigh more than one and a half kilograms. Their body is covered with mobile rigid plates, which reliably protect against predators. In case of danger, giant crayfish roll into a ball.

These creatures live at a depth of 750 meters, alone. Their condition is close to hibernation. Forage for isopods is an inimitable prey: small fry, carrion falling to the bottom, sea cucumbers.
