Pus from the nose, or what is sinusitis

Pus from the nose, as a rule, is a sign of sinusitis. Especially if on its background you clearly feel and other symptoms. Which ones? But about this in more detail.

Symptoms of sinusitis

I must say that sinusitis is a fairly common disease, it has several kinds and numerous symptoms.

1. Discomfort in the nose or nose. Compressive and tightening sensations. Pain when you touch your fingers in certain places, depending on the localization of the focus of inflammation. If the genyantritis, the pain is most pronounced in the cheek area. At front trouble will deliver the forehead area.

2. Headache. Sometimes its manifestation is one-sided, sometimes has a diffuse character. It should be noted and increased discomfort when turning the head, changing its position, with sudden movements.

3. Nasal breathing. And the relief does not come when using nasal drops and sprays. The voice acquires a nasal hue.

4. Runny nose. Although in some cases, the disease can occur without it. But most often there are clear discharge or pus from the nose.

5. Increased temperature. This symptom, as a rule, is an indicator of the acute form of the disease. In the chronic course of the disease, the temperature rises rarely.

6. If you were sick with ARVI and during the week treatment the symptoms did not pass or, conversely, worsened, then, most likely, you have sinusitis.

7. General malaise, which is expressed in weakness, rapid fatigue, lack of appetite.

8. There is a superficial cough and sore throat.

9. Puffiness of the eyelids and swelling of the face.

Species of sinusitis

Depending on which part of the person is the focus of inflammation, there are different types of sinusitis.

- Frontal sinusitis. Pain is localized in the eyebrows, hence strong headaches, in some cases, photophobia and decreased sense of smell.

- Sinusitis (maxillary sinusitis). Unpleasant sensations in the upper jaw, which provokes toothache, can not touch the cheeks, as this is very painful.

- Etmoiditis (sinusitis of the latticed labyrinth). The deepest sinus in the nose. A pronounced pain in the interocular region and in the region of the wings of the nose. There is a stuffy nose, pus from the nose. Very dangerous variety, as it gives serious complications (neuralgic injuries, ear diseases and purulent cranial bleeding).

- Sphenoiditis (upper wedge-shaped sinusitis). Unpleasant sensations in the neck and ears. Pain at the top of the head (parietal, occipital).

Symptoms of sinusitis in children

I must say that the signs of sinusitis in children and adults are slightly different. In children, sinusitis, as a rule, does not manifest itself in any way. In general, the main symptom of this disease in any child is pus in the nose. To this symptom can be added and others: fever, loss of appetite, swelling around the affected sinuses. Usually, sinusitis affects the body of a child after a viral infection. In children under 10 years, pus from the nose signals the onset of the disease, in children, the discharge from the nose is often watery, without the presence of purulent disseminations, but this does not mean that the disease from this becomes less dangerous. I also want to say about the headache. As a rule, it is a symptom of sinusitis in adults, in children the head hurts only in one third of cases. But children's sinusitis is usually accompanied by otitis.
