'Protargol' drops

The drug "Protargol" is a drop widely used in medical practice. The remedy is used in the treatment of various kinds of rhinitis and in the complex treatment of ear diseases.

"Protargol" drops are classified as a group of anti-inflammatory drugs, used topically. The composition includes silver proteinate.

Description. The preparation is a liquid of dark brown color.

Pharmacology. Drops have an antiseptic, astringent and anti-inflammatory effect. Silver actively inhibits the vital activity and reproduction of bacteria, while it binds to their deoxyribonucleic code (abbreviated DNA). The drug is used for instillation of the nasal mucosa.

Indication. " Protargol" drops are prescribed in the following cases:

- rhinitis,

- acute rhino-pharyngitis,

- laryngitis,

- urethritis, cystitis (and other diseases of the genitourinary system of an inflammatory nature),

- adenoids,

- conjunctivitis.

Drops of "Protargol" are prescribed in combination with other agents for inflammatory diseases of the middle ear.

Before you independently start treatment with the drug "Protargol", you need to consult with a specialist.

"Protargol" drops are contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity manifestations. In addition, the instruction advises with caution to use the drug during lactation and pregnancy. Breastfeeding mother may start treatment with drops, but first consult a doctor.

Mode of application. The medicine "Protargol" is used locally.

For instillation in the nasal passage, it is recommended to use a "Protargol" drop in a 2% solution.

With laryngitis, a 3% solution is used.

In general, based on personal experience, it can be noted that this drug is quite effective. The action of "Protargol" becomes noticeable on the second-third day of use: the swelling of the mucous membranes decreases, the purulent contents of the nasal cavity are more easily separated, and nasal breathing is facilitated. The color of the discharge becomes brown, similar to clots of dried blood, but it is not necessary to be frightened, since the mucus that separates stains with the drug.

And I want to advise. Before burying the baby "Protargol", the nasal cavity should be thoroughly rinsed. This is easily done with special sprays that contain purified sea water. Salt water helps to free the nose from mucous secretions, and they freely move away. And then, in a clean spout with a pipette we instill a remedy. To drop the "Protargol" deeper penetrated, bury them should be in a prone position.

The safe preparation "Protargol" is suitable for the treatment of rhinitis in children and adults. At a low cost, it is very effective.
