Phishing link - what is this? What is its danger?

The number of threats in the modern Internet is simply amazing. For the same "Android" has already been created so many malicious applications, that this platform easily tears out the "palm tree" in this problem, even in Windows (how much to correctly compare the two platforms).

Whatever it was, but to go out into the vastness of the World Wide Web without the included antivirus, we strongly do not advise. But there is one problem that even he can not cope with at times, is a phishing link. What is this phenomenon?

On the live bait

"Fisher" in English is called a fisherman. Accordingly, the link with the same name is a kind of "bait", which the user "bites". What is the danger of such bait?

The fact is that when you go by this type of link, the site of a well-known organization (bank, postal service or social network) is most often shown, which in fact is not such.

The user trustfully enters their login / password in carefully provided fields, after which they instantly fall into the hands of the "fisherman".

Is it all bad?

You might think that any site on which you just had fun communicating with friends yesterday can turn any phishing link into a password trap. Is it true or fiction?

As usual, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately, the knowledge of computers for the majority of users is close to zero. So, many of them have no idea where the address bar is. But if you know some of its features, then you will not be afraid of any phishing link! What is this secret?

Go to any normal site (visit Gmail, for example) and look at the left corner of the address bar. Do you see the symbol in the form of a small lock? This means that the connection is trusted and protected.

Domain Name

If you listened to a computer science teacher for a while, you probably know about domains. This is part of the website address, which looks like "com", "rf", "uk", etc. It indicates in which state territory a particular resource is "registered".

But now it is not important to us. Two identical sites on the same domain (with a completely identical name) can exist on can, therefore "fishermen" go on tricks. Their phishing link (what it is, you already know) leads to a resource, the interface of which can completely repeat the same social network "VKontakte".

But! If you look again at the address bar, then instead of the "com" domain you will see something much more exotic there. For example, "su". And if there is a second-level domain (or even a third one) that looks like "... ucoz.ru", then the site is 100% phishing!

How to deal with this

First, you need to look more often at the appearance of sites, notice the oddities associated with the address bar, and install an antivirus. The same Kaspersky will do. The phishing link will be blocked even on the "approach", and you will avoid many problems associated with the theft of your data and the loss of funds.

In addition, search engines in recent times do not really respect fans of free fishing. If the site is caught on something similar, then when you visit it, you will see a message "blocked by a phishing link". Remember this and do not ignore such warnings!
