"Pernach" pistol: description, device

By 1990, the production of the automatic Stechkin pistol because of its obsolete design was discontinued. The army and special forces of Russia needed modernized automatic weapons, which in their qualities would not be inferior to the APS. As a result of the design improvements, a pistol OC-33 Pernach was assembled.

Who created the model?

The pistol "Pernach" was developed from 1995 to 1996 by the staff of the Tula Central Design and Research Bureau of Sporting and Hunting Weapons under the leadership of I. Stechkin. For the work, young arms engineers A. Balzer and A. Zinchenko were involved. "AP SBZ-2" - this was the designation of the automatic pistol in the design documentation. Pernach is the unofficial name of this model. In the 14th century, the so-called hand-impact weapons, capable of piercing armor, were called so.

For what purpose was the weapon designed?

In the 1990s, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia decided to replace used ammunition 7.62 mm from Kalashnikov, the use of which within the city was a threat to civilians, to safer ones, which are considered small-caliber pistol cartridges of the central battle (MPC). Thus, in 1993, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation received two orders simultaneously from the TsKIB SOO: the creation of an ammunition and the development of weapons for it - the upgraded APS, which had to be adapted for firing cartridges of 5.45 MPC caliber.

How was the model of the new gun created?

Initially, the staff of TsKIB SOO as a result of the conversion of APS to a cartridge with low power and a weak stopping action, the OTs-23 Drotik model was assembled.

In this model there was an original automatic: due to the included fuse, a reliable lock was made for the striker, the bolt, the trigger and the trigger. Such weapons, even charged and with a cocked cock, were perfectly safe. The model was equipped with a double-action shock-trigger mechanism and a movable barrel. In 1995, the design modifications of this model were started first under a cartridge of 9x19 mm caliber "parabellum", and later under the Russian 9x18 PM. By April 1996, the first Pernach had already been prepared.

The weapon in its design and exterior design practically does not differ from the previous version - OC-23. The pistol "Pernach" also has a movable barrel and a double-action trigger CMM. The model is adapted for both single and serial firing.

How is Pernach made?

For this model, there are two stores, which contain cartridges in the amount of 18 and 27 pieces. The location of these stores was the handle of the gun. For their reliable fixation, the developers have a special push-button latch. You can select the desired fire mode using the flag translator, which is also a fuse. As in Stechkin, the Pernach pistol contains this fuse on the casing-case. To shoot a burst, just move the safety flag counter-clockwise down to the stop.

You can use the pistol with both hands. To this end, the developers have equipped fuses and translators, both sides of the handle of the gun. For weapons, there was also created a special metal folding shoulder stop, which increases stability during the use of the pistol.

Rate of fire

As for the cartridge 9 mm, in contrast to the 5.45 MPC, a high stopping effect is characteristic, in OTS-33 the need to increase the damage by a rapid repeated hit in the target has disappeared. As a result, it was decided to significantly reduce the rate of fire. Now, instead of 1800 rounds per minute, only 800 could be performed. For this purpose, the OC-33 design was equipped with a shutter casing with full speed above 7 cm. When the shutter and the barrel roll back, they collide with each other, which entails a slight loss of energy. As a result, when you rollback, the shutter casing moves at a lower speed. For the rolling of the shutter in the design of the gun is provided with a return spring. The own spring of the barrel returns it to its former position, while the next ammunition is sent to the chamber.

For automation OC-33 is characterized by an extended cycle. Due to this, the Tula designers managed to achieve a reduction in the rate of fire to 800 shots per minute. For the automatic Stechkin pistol, due to the slowing mechanisms used in it, the rate was 700 shots.

Tactical and technical characteristics

"Pernach" - a pistol, which by type is automatic.

  • The weight of the weapon with the butt is 1.42 kg.
  • Weight without a butt - 1,15 kg.
  • The size of the pistol with the butt is 54 cm.
  • Length without butt - 23 cm.
  • The size of the trunk is 135 mm.
  • The width of the trunk is 37 mm.
  • The height of the trunk is 143 mm.
  • The pistol uses ammunition 9x18 mm PM.
  • The bullet is capable of developing an initial speed of up to 330 m / s.
  • Aiming shooting from this pistol is possible at a distance of up to 50 meters.
  • The weapon has a maximum range of not more than one hundred meters.

For carrying out the transportation of shoulder stops to weapons and magazines with cartridges, there are special cases and pouches that cling to the waist belts.

Weapon Testing

For the first time, Pernach was tested by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation on the territory of the research institute of special machinery under its control. During the tests, the weapon showed a good result: the scattering of bullets was less than that of "Cypress". Compared with the automatic Stechkin pistol, prone to "throwing", "Pernach" has a 30% higher efficiency of shooting.

OC-33 interested the leaders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia with their high technical characteristics and novelty. Several parties of these pistols are still listed in the arsenal of Russian law enforcement special forces.
