Marking of steels

What is the labeling for and what is most important - what does it mean? First of all, it's some kind of code that shows the properties of the product. For each product, a code is applied. Any industry (chemical, automotive, heavy, light) requires marking or applying barcodes.

Industrial marking (for example, marking of steels and alloys) helps to carry out a qualitative performance of further work where the given product subsequently appears. Let's say that marking pipes will allow builders to work with the water pipe correctly, which, in turn, will not lead to unexpected accidents and pipe breaks under load.

On steel ordinary (of ordinary quality) cause the letters St and number. It looks like St3, St2, St1, St0. Qualitative (carbon) steels are marked with two-digit numbers, the number indicating the content of carbon in percentages (hundredths): 40, 25, 10, 08, etc., and the letter G in the marking indicates an increased content in manganese steel (18G , 14G, etc.)

Steel automatic are marked with the first letter of the Russian alphabet A (A30, A12, etc.). On the steels of carbon instrumentals put the letter Y (Y12, Y10, Y8, where the figures indicate the steel content in 10 percent of the percentage).

The grades of alloy steels contain letters that indicate the components of a particular steel, characterizing their average content: nitrogen is designated as A, aluminum-V, vanadium-F, boron-P, manganese-G, cobalt-K, silicon-C, Manganese-G, molybdenum-M, copper-D, nickel-H, selenium-B, carbon-U, titanium-T, chromium-X, phosphorus-P, zirconium-C.

The first figures indicate the content in the steel of a component called carbon, in hundredths are determined for structural steels and in tenths for stainless and tool steels. Then the letter designates the alloying element. The letter is followed by figures indicating the average content of this element in units (integers). If the content of alloying elements is less than one and a half percent, the figures after the corresponding letter are not displayed. The presence at the end of the letter A indicates the high quality of the presented steel. Letter Ш - a special difference in quality (especially high-quality steel).

Steel quality ordinary: BS0, VST0, St0 (color red, or green); (Color is black), Ст5 and ВСт5 (the color is green), and finally Ст6 (the color is blue), St6 (blue), St1 (yellow), БСт3, Ст3, ВСТ3кп, БСт3кп, ВСт3 (color red), БСт4, Ст4, БСт4кп, ВСт4кп, ).

High-quality carbon steel: 20, 15, 10, 08 (color white); 40, 35, 30, 25 (color white, yellow); 60, 55, 50, 45 (color white, brown).

Structural alloy steel: chrome (color green, yellow); Chrome vanadium (color green, black); Chromomolybdenum (either green or violet); Chromomanganese (black, blue); Manganese (brown or blue); Chromosilica-manganese (blue, red); Chromium aluminum (aluminum); Chromium-nickel-molybdenum (violet or black).

The steel is corrosion-resistant: chromium-nickel (color red, or aluminum); Chromic; Chromium (aluminum, or black), chromotitanium (yellow, or aluminum); Chromium-Nickelite (blue, aluminum); Chromium-nickel-silicon (green, aluminum); Chromomanganese nickel (color aluminum, or brown), chromium-nickelenobium (white or aluminum) and chromium-nickel-molybdenum titanium (color violet, aluminum).

High-speed steel is designated as P18 (bronze or red) and P9 (bronze color).

Alloys hard sintered. On such alloys the following marking of steels is applied: VK2 (white strip on black); VK3-M (orange strip on black), VK4 (orange color); VK6 (color blue); VK6-B (violet); VK6-M (white strip on blue); VK8 (red color); VK8-B (blue strip on red); VK15 (white); T30K4 (light blue); T15K6 (green color).

Using these simple rules, it is fairly easy to determine the composition and properties of steel. A marking was developed in the USSR, but it still operates in the CIS and throughout Russia.
