Knitted Sutures: Varieties and Methods of Implementation

After completing the process of knitting sweaters, dresses or any other product, all of its details must be connected. But this is not done with a sewing machine, tk. Its line is not elastic, and the threads will necessarily tear when stretching the knitted items. Special knit stitches are used for sewing knitted items. There are several types. They are performed by different methods, tools and threads. Most often, special needles are used for wool or for embroidery with a blunt tip.

Preparation of parts for stitching

Before you make a knitted stitch, all the elements of the product must be given the correct shape after knitting. This is done by heat treatment. To prevent deformation of knitted items during ironing, they are pre-attached with pins to the pattern. Remember that products made from wool yarn and synthetics through cotton fabric should be steamed, and from half-woolen, linen and cotton - neatly ironed. Attention! The process of heat treatment is always made from the wrong side, and the gum should not be touched at all, so that they do not stretch.

Knitted suture "loop in loop"

It is used for joining parts connected by stocking. The main advantage of this method is invisibility. These knitted seams are made with threads, from which the product is connected. The open loops of one part from the right to the left are sewn together with the loops of the other. Fix the thread from the wrong side of the upper part. Also from the wrong side of the first loop, a needle is inserted. Then the thread must pass along the front side of the lower part through the first loop, then through the second loop from the underside of the bottom part. The thread is again inserted into the upper first loop from the front side, then from the back, into the upper second loop, and so on.

Vertical joint

Vertical stitching of parts is performed from the front side. The left wall of the loop of one element is alternately grasped and the right loop of the second one. Knitted stitches "lacing" are used in garter stitch. The needle is inserted between the two last loops, under the horizontal thread of the first part, then under the transverse second. Stitches are made in the horizontal direction.

Branch seam

It is used for edging the edges of products and joining bekes, slats, pockets, etc. Immediately, a strip of 3 cm wide is knitted, after which it is applied and labeled on the part From the front side so that the edges of the element come under the strip by about 0.3 cm. The tabs of the plate should remain open - they are attached with a seam. To do this, you need a thread that is equal to three trim strips. The needle is inserted into the second loop from the inside, then - the first from above, and the thread extends through the third loop from the bottom up. Then again, the needle is inserted into the second loop, but from above, and pulled through the fourth loop from the bottom up. This seam is also called the "back needle". Before performing knitting tricot stitches, it is necessary to very carefully peel off the hinges in order to avoid their "runaway" during the joining of the parts.
