Indicators of labor productivity: efficiency, output and labor intensity

In general, labor productivity is understood as an indicator that characterizes the effectiveness of work, the return on each unit of the labor resource involved. The results of labor are: added value, services, goods, service, delivery, cost, quality, quantity.

Capital, labor, equipment, materials, land, energy, information, technology act as resources.

Productivity: indicators

To understand the essence of productivity, two aspects stand out. This is the productivity of labor, determined by the ratio of the number of manufactured goods and labor inputs, which were required for this.

The second aspect is the effectiveness of labor. This ratio of the result of economic activity and costs associated with the use and attraction of labor resources, otherwise - an indicator of the volume of services or products produced per unit of labor costs.

There are such indicators as productivity in the scale of the industry, region, society, productivity at the enterprise and individually individual employees.

In each organization, their performance indicators, which can be reduced or increased depending on various factors.

With an increase in the share of costs in goods is reduced, and the amount of labor costs of the past period increases, however, in general, this indicator, concluded in each unit of the product, is reduced.

The indicators of labor productivity depend on the intensity, the influence of the magnitude of the extensiveness of labor, and also on the technical and technological state of production.

Extensive indicators of labor productivity reflect the degree of use of the work time, as well as its duration per shift, with a constant value of other parameters. With the effective use of working time, there are fewer downtime, out-of-production time, and the longer the working shift has, the higher the productivity of labor.

Such indicators of labor productivity, as intensity, show the degree of tension of work per unit time. They are measured by the amount of energy expended during a period. With greater intensity, labor productivity also increases. The maximum value of this indicator depends on the mental and physiological capabilities of the human body.

Performance has sources that have no limits. This is scientific and technological progress, technological and technical improvement of production, the emergence of new types of energy and materials.

There are also indicators of labor productivity, such as labor intensity and production. The latter is calculated by the ratio of the number of services and goods produced to the time spent on it. Labor intensity shows how much time is spent to produce a unit of output. There is an inverse relationship between the described indicators.

The increase in productivity leads to an increase in the volume of output that is released per unit of time, preserving its quality. There is also an increase in the quality of goods, labor costs for production are reduced , profit rates are increased , and the period of circulation and production of goods is reduced.

These types of manifestations of increased productivity can exist in various combinations. And in combination with other species, or even separately, indicates a high value of productivity for the economy of the enterprise and for society as a whole.
