Cream soda - a drink that comes from childhood

The word "cream-soda" to many of us is familiar from the very childhood. It used to be called a carbonated drink with a creamy taste and light notes of citrus. He was well refreshed in the heat, was inexpensive, and moms were not afraid to give it to children. Since then, much has changed.

Historical reference

Cooking a soft drink from soda and ice cream came up long ago, back in the late XVIII century. It is noteworthy that lemonade appeared about the same time. Only if the lemonade was originally based on citrus syrup, and carbonated water appeared in the recipe much later, then the cream-soda originally contained it in its composition. This drink was widely distributed in the USSR, along with the famous "Pinocchio", "Duchess" and "Bell".

At the time of the Union, cream-soda was prepared from natural fruit and herbal syrups. Using components of vegetable origin made the old, good cream-soda not only so tasty, but also useful. This drink was often sold not only in bottles, but also in street vending machines.

New technologies

Today progress has touched all branches of life. Modern cream soda - a drink with a completely different composition. No more that herbal syrups, but in most cases even essences. The basis is synthetic ingredients. They, albeit at times, reduced the cost of the drink, but they did not add any good or taste to it.

The composition of modern cream-soda includes a large number of various components of the "E". Aroma, color and taste, although similar to the original, but obtained in an artificial manner.

Cream soda is produced by different manufacturers. Some of them only seek to reduce costs and increase profits. Someone is fighting for quality, trying to reduce the percentage of artificial components. The most skilled marketers are trying to bring the drink closer to Soviet standards. However, most of the measures aimed at this are not reduced to the desire to introduce the old recipe, but to "deception" - for example, a cream soda is produced in glass bottles labeled in the USSR style. Visually, it causes many not only attacks of nostalgia, but also the belief that authentic is not only the appearance, but also the content.

Modern Recipe

The following recipe is the basis of the technology of today's beverage:

  • 1000 liters of water;
  • 700 g of flavor;
  • 100-777 g sweetener (natural or synthetic);
  • 4 kg of carbon dioxide;
  • 880 g of citric acid;
  • 177 g of sodium benzoate (E211).

You can make this drink yourself. To do this, mix 40 ml of coconut milk and pineapple juice, 10 ml of coconut syrup, 2 decafes of lemon juice, 100 g of cream ice cream and fill it with a glass of soda.
