Chrysanthemums. Cultivation

The chrysanthemum plant looks like a half-shrub with a rather branched stalk on which small separate leaves grow. The structure of the flowers of chrysanthemum distinguishes it, simultaneously referring to large-scale and small- color species. If we are talking about room chrysanthemum, then it will be a small-colored plant. Having a variety of colors, it happens with yellow, white, pinkish and even red flowers. There are over two hundred varieties of chrysanthemum. It is referred to as an astrological family, and it has won the greatest popularity among the inhabitants of the Asian countries. Although this heat-loving plant was born in India, some of its species are completely frost-hardy and can bloom even until late autumn.

How to grow chrysanthemums

Chrysanthemums are considered to be flowers growing on open ground, but by the works of professionals, with the help of special solutions that slow the growth of the flower, today it can be grown in pots. Thus, today we can have compact, long and abundantly flowering chrysanthemums at home. Growing garden chrysanthemums implies the ability to get a plant that reaches a height of twenty to seventy centimeters.

Breeding chrysanthemums in the room and balcony conditions, as a rule, are satisfied with short, small-colored varieties. They include the Golden Gloria (has flowers of a yellow hue), Gustav Grünwald and the view of Old Gold (it has red-bronze flowers).

If you want your house to be decorated with chrysanthemums, growing them in an apartment environment will require a room with cool and fresh air. As a rule, such a place can be either a balcony or a loggia. Here the seedlings can develop before the start of frost. If the chrysanthemum is in the process of flowering, then it can be placed on the windowsill - near the solar window, in a well ventilated and cool room with a temperature regime from thirteen to fifteen degrees. At temperatures above twenty-five degrees, the process of growth of chrysanthemum will be rather bad, and the buds will quickly dissolve and soon wither.

Growing chrysanthemums from seeds does not require special efforts. Sowing seeds is necessary in May, deepening them in the ground holes, three to four seeds with a distance of twenty-five centimeters from each other. Flowering will come with the beginning of August. If you do not want to wait until August, you need to sow in March, then bloom will occur in June. To do this you will need a heated room. Dipping in pots occurs when seedlings grow up. Then in the beginning of June they can be planted in the ground.

If you do not already have, but you want to have chrysanthemums, growing them will require the availability of prepared land with admixtures of turf and humus (taken in equal parts), and it is also necessary to add twenty percent of the sand with the manure. A good addition to the land of bird litter is also good.

If you want your chrysanthemums to bloom and into the deep autumn, they need to be watered abundantly and sprinkled with water. This should be done at least two times a week. If the chrysanthemum experiences a lack of moisture, leaf loss may occur. For greater branching, you can pinch the top of the plant. In this case, the growth of lateral shoots will be much better.

If you think that it is necessary to transplant chrysanthemums, growing them suggests this. As soon as you notice that the size of the pot, in which your chrysanthemum grows, ceases to correspond to its size, you can transplant the plant into the pot a little more. After this, after ten to fifteen days, it is necessary to feed the chrysanthemum with liquid fertilizers.

If you want to get large flowers, then you need to shape your chrysanthemums. Growing to increase the size of the flowers allows the following method. First you need to pluck the first bud, and after a while you will see the appearance of several shoots on the side. Depending on how many colors you want to have, as many shoots and need to be left. Of course, this should be done as your bush develops.
