"Captopril". Instructions for use

"Captopril" (captopril) is a drug belonging to the group of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitor). In the international system of classification of medicines, "Captopril" has the registration code C09AA01. The synthetic chemical preparation "Captopril" is designed to lower blood pressure by reducing the formation of an oligopeptide hormone (angiotensin II is obtained from angiotensin I), which leads to a decrease in the production of the adrenal cortex of the mineralocorticosteroid hormone-aldosterone.

There are several trade names, under which different manufacturers produce "Captopril". Instructions for use of each trademark describes the form of release and dosage (usually tablets of 6.25 mg, 12.5 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg). The manufacturer "Torrent Pharmaceuticals" - tablets "Angiopril 25". The company "Vokhard Limited" - "Aceten". The world's largest producer of pharmaceuticals Bristol-Myers Squibb fills the market with "Kapoten" tablets. The Russian company Akrihin produces the Kapoten. Tablets under the trademark "Captopril" are produced by several companies: Elfa (Russia), Hexal (Germany), Krka (Slovenia), Promed Exports (Russia), Rompharm (Russia). American company "CNN Pharmaceuticals" produces tablets "Katopil". Leading pharmaceutical company of Greece "Medocemi" - "Rilkapton". Hungarian pharmaceutical factory "Aegis" - tablets Tenziomin. Cyprus company "Remedyka-Minneks" - "Epsitron."

Doctors prescribe the monotherapy "Captopril" with persistent increase in blood pressure (arterial hypertension). The drug is used in the complex therapy of chronic heart failure, with a violation (after a heart attack) of the left ventricle. It is prescribed for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy, proceeding against a background of diabetes mellitus of the first type. Moderate hypotensive effect, as in other ACE inhibitors, provides a noticeable reduction in blood pressure. In most cases, half the dosage from the maximum allowable dose of the drug is enough. Compared with other drugs, for example, hydrochlorothiazide, fewer side effects are given by "Captopril". Instructions for use describe its exact dosage.

To enhance the hypotensive effect, "Captopril" is used in combination with other drugs: diuretics (diuretics - hydrochlorothiazide) or calcium channel blockers (calcium antagonists with pronounced vasodilating action - verapomil, nifedipine and others). Only on the basis of the performed examination, and also based on the age and general condition of the organism, the doctor (in conjunction with other drugs or for the course of monotherapy) is appointed "Captopril". Instructions for the use of the drug should be studied by the patient, but it is not necessary to change the dosage alone, to cancel the course prescribed by the doctor, or to engage in self-medication. Otherwise, this can lead to serious negative consequences.

The doctor sets the dosage regimen individually. Usually, one hour before meals, it is recommended to take Captopril. The use of the drug should be regular, at the same time. With arterial hypertension, "Captopril" is usually prescribed for 25 mg (twice a day). In the future, the dose can be gradually increased until the desired effect is achieved. For moderate arterial pressure, it is increased to 50 mg (twice a day), and with a severe form of this disease, the drug can be taken up to three times a day for 50 mg. In this case, the daily dose should not be above 150 mg. All these dosage changes should be carried out according to the prescription of the doctor. Chronic heart failure is also treated with captopril , Dosages start from 6.25 mg to three times a day. Then this dose can gradually increase, but a day does not exceed 150 mg. Elderly patients and patients with impaired renal function with greater caution are assigned "Captopril". Instructions for use of the drug contains information on contraindications and possible complications, which the patient should not forget and constantly monitor his condition. If necessary, Captopril Take in conjunction with diuretics of the thiazide series (hydrochlorothiazide, chlorothiazide) or loop diuretics (for example, furasemide).
