Asus N73SV: specifications and reviews

Notebooks series N from "Asus" are positioned as an alternative to stationary computers, sharpened for games and multimedia. The company promises the owner excellent performance, good sound quality and a remarkable picture. Consider the brightest representative of the series - the N73SV model, well balanced in terms of price / return.

So, the hero of today's review is the Asus N73SV: characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, as well as expert opinions along with the feedback of the laptop owners.

Brief specification

For sound in the device meets the well-proven technology SonicMaster, which was developed by the efforts of the brand "Asus" and no less popular Bang & Olufsen, engaged in hardware and software solutions in the acoustic field.

The image quality in the Asus N73SV rests on the shoulders of a smartly designed 17-inch display with an expanded to Full HD matrix at a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The main variative choice factor in the model is the processor and hard drive with the appropriate frames: Core i3 - Core i7 and 250 GB - 1 TB. The rest of the filling is more or less averaged for its segment.

Design

For its dimensions and weight of 3.6 kg, the laptop is rather heavy, so lovers of traveling light should pay attention to more interesting proposals in terms of the gravity of the gadget. The case of Asus N73SV is made of aluminum, only the bottom of the device remains intact, which is covered by usual, but high-quality plastic.

The design of the laptop is relatively strong and looks solid, reliable and nice: there were no backlashes, no squeaks, no critical overtravels. The display hinges are quite tight so that the screen does not go shaking while shaking, but not so tight to prevent the Asus N73SV from opening up. The owners' comments sometimes indicate a different degree of clamping of loops at this or that degree, when the lid starts to "walk by itself", but for the sitting or lying position of the user everything works as it should.

Upgradeability

On the bottom you can see the cover for access to the inside of the device and levers fixing the battery. Many owners in their reviews thank the engineers for providing a simple and "painless" opportunity to upgrade the Asus N73SV: just remove the cover and you have access to RAM and hard drive. And it is worth noting that if you decide to install a second hard drive, then do not forget to buy a special slide for mounting, as there are not any laptops with them.

Interfaces

At the back of the device are two USB 2.0 ports and an input for a network card, and the latter supports speeds up to one gigabit.

In the left part you can see the radiator exhaust of the cooling system and the optical drive. Some users in their reviews complain about the absence of at least one USB interface on the left side, but apparently the designers considered it differently.

The right side of the laptop is equipped with a powerful audio output such as SPDIF, an external microphone, an omnivorous card reader, a wireless protocol trigger, an HDMI output for connecting third-party gadgets, USB 3.0 ports (blue) and 2.0, a D-Sub port, Kensington lock and exit For the charger.

Ergonomics and control

Starting with the device, the first thing you have to face is the keyboard Asus N73SV. The moment is certainly subjective - someone likes it, some do not, so users in their reviews broke into two camps. Those who do not like management, complain about too close the location of the keys: easily miss or just press two keys at once. The digital block is located close to the main part of the keyboard, which also makes it difficult to intuitively find the same arrows. And the page turning buttons are generally located far from the navigation buttons, so it's extremely inconvenient to use them, because you constantly have to reach them.

The central part of the keyboard is noticeably squeezed when pressed, but this is the trouble most of the devices and laptop Asus N73SV is no exception. What I liked, it's the noiselessness of the buttons: the key stroke is soft, without specific clicks and other noise.

To the left of the keyboard, you can see the multimedia functionality, which is responsible for the volume of sounds and playback control. At first acquaintance it seemed that the touch buttons, but in actual fact - these are the usual keys level with the working area.

Display

Viewing the video on the Asus N73SV V2G turns into a real pleasure, especially if the movie is in Full HD format. At this resolution all the advantages of the screen are revealed: an excellent and juicy picture with good viewing angles.

Complementing the completeness of the presence of no less than high-quality sound on the technology SonicMaster: voluminous, loud and clear. And although the subwoofer is not provided for in the model, the bass can be heard quite clearly as well as the rest of the frequencies, so most music lovers will certainly not remain indifferent to the Asus N73SV.

What afflicts many owners of the device, judging by their feedback, is the problem with games. In this case, the high resolution of the screen will act as a serious obstacle for gamers. Even at low graphics settings at a high resolution, there are all sorts of friezes and FPS subsidence. Therefore, you have to remove Full HD to the standard settings in 1366 at 768 points. With this resolution, games work more or less smoothly, but the quality of the image will naturally be not the same. In any case, if the motion blur in games with a non-native resolution does not bother you, then you can close your eyes to this flaw. The rest of the discerning gamer will have to find a better version / more expensive.

As for the viewing angles, everything is standard here for your segment: about 65-70 degrees in the horizontal plane and about 20 in the vertical plane. With good fixed monitors such indicators certainly will not be compared, but almost all laptops sin with similar viewing angles.

Autonomous work

The battery life is similar to the typical representatives of 17-inch laptops. Battery Asus N73SV has a quite decent capacity of 5200 mAh, but it works too little. In read mode and economical power consumption, the device worked no more than three and a half hours.

The disadvantage of this autonomy is difficult to be called, since the company positioned its laptop as a replacement for a personal computer, rather than a mobile assistant for travel. The same weight of the laptop as it hints that for active movements it is not intended.

Summarizing

In principle, the model proved its right to all those laudatory epithets that the company addressed to the N73 line. We see a very high-quality sound, which is deprived of many similar and competing laptops, an excellent display with high-resolution development, good thermal design and relatively powerful stuffing, which copes well with multimedia and most work tasks.

The drawbacks of the series can be attributed too much weight device and a stumbling block for many - the keyboard. And as mentioned above, lovers of "heavy" and modern games, with the new model is not on the way: the built-in video accelerator simply can not cope with the stabilization of FPS, so frisuses, subsidence and unpleasant discomfort in gaming applications are unavoidable, especially at high screen resolution.

If you do not belong to the number of avid gamers and graphomaniacs, then the model will be a great help for you both at home and in the workplace, and for quite a moderate money. The company once again presented a perfectly balanced line in terms of price and quality, so you are unlikely to regret buying.
