On the other - for her rejoicing, for now the suffering Mother was reunited with her beloved Son. In addition, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a prayer in her honor is a glorification of eternal life in Christ, recognition of the fleshiness and immortality of the soul. Therefore, the holiday is considered joyful, bright, and the sadness inherent in it is colored in soft tones. It is noted by both Catholics and Orthodox. " Therefore, even in death, the Mother of God does not leave her flock, and all Christians hope for her further assistance. People rejoice over it, and he himself rejoices that he left the mortal earthly abode and ascended to heaven. Complete prayer, the text of it consists of 25 so-called "songs": 13 praises (kontakion, ending in praise of the Lord) and 12 glorification, they are also "icosa", the first word in which - "rejoice."

Celebrations in honor of the Blessed Virgin

On August 28 the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated according to the new style. This corresponds to the 15th of August, if compared with the old style. On this day, all Christianity remembers the righteous life of the Mother of God, its departure from the angels to the Son, glorifies them, expresses the hope of salvation.
