ARVI in pregnancy

The body of a woman during pregnancy is exposed to a lot of dangers, including acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). Viral diseases are especially dangerous for a pregnant woman at any time of pregnancy. Since it is transmitted to the acute respiratory tract by airborne droplets, it is rather difficult to avoid the disease. Prevention of the disease includes the adoption of vitamin complexes and easy hardening for a general increase in immunity. In the event that a pregnant woman has noticed the symptoms of ARVI, she immediately needs to see a doctor.

Symptoms of acute respiratory infections in pregnancy

The organism of a pregnant woman reacts acutely to acute respiratory viral infections. Symptoms that manifest in a pregnant woman's illness are both typical and different from the ordinary case. Typical signs of a disease that always occur are:

- a runny nose,

- cough,

- fever,

General weakness.

However, there are symptoms that are most common only for pregnant women who have ARVI:

- an ache in joints and bones,

- nausea,

- vomiting,

- dizziness,

- lack of appetite.

In this state, the body of a woman is particularly weak. Because of the common cold, a woman can not breathe properly. Oxygen is not enough for the female body and the baby. The child begins to suffer from hypoxia. The woman's organism feels an increased load. Most of all, she is exposed to the uterus, heart and kidneys, because of which there is an acute threat of miscarriage. Pregnancy is a process during which all the systems of the body work on wear and tear, and when you join this state of acute disease, the state of health worsens significantly and requires immediate treatment.

How does ARVI affect the fetus during pregnancy? Quite often waiting for the birth of a baby, women are mistaken that it is as easy to transfer a cold on their feet during pregnancy as it is in normal times. However, this is far from the case, because according to the statistics of the observation of the course of pregnancy during ARVI during pregnancy in the first trimester, the disease leads to a miscarriage in 35% of cases.

Disease ARVI at different stages of development of the fetus in different ways can affect its condition:

Trimester 1 st. SARS can provoke miscarriages or significant malformations of the fetus.

Trimester 2-nd. Disease can lead to underdevelopment of the nervous, digestive and respiratory system of the child.

Trimester of the 3rd. The disease can lead to premature birth.

ARVI in pregnancy - treatment

It is highly not recommended to perform ARVI treatment during pregnancy on your own. During the entire waiting period for the appearance of a baby, antiviral drugs are contraindicated for a woman. These medications are used only if the threat to the life of the child and the mother is greater than the risk of fetal pathologies.

Until the 14th week of pregnancy, antiviral drugs are completely banned, after this period, a pregnant woman can take Viferon. This drug does not cause adverse effects on the fetus, does not lead to pathologies, absolutely has no side effects. The drug includes alpha-2b interferon + antioxidants. In addition, it is enriched with vitamins C and E, which are so necessary for raising immunity during the period of the disease. Viferon blocks the multiplication of viruses and significantly increases the body's resistance.

In the event that the acute respiratory viral infection is acute during the early stages of pregnancy, emergency care should be called forth immediately, as in-patient treatment may be required. In the event that ARVI during pregnancy occurred during the second and third semesters, you need to see a doctor and do not self-medicate.
