Anthelmintic drugs for humans

To date, there are several dozens of helminthiases that affect a person. It is because of this prevalence of diseases that great attention is paid to the breadth of the spectrum of exposure to anthelmintics.

For the treatment of helminthiases in modern medicine, special compounds are used - anthelmintic drugs for humans.

The appointment of anthelminthic medicament is made taking into account the specificity of its activity and patient's tolerance.

Modern anthelmintic drugs for humans are active during all stages of development of parasites. Their task is not only to destroy the causative agents of diseases, but also to eliminate the consequences of the vital activity of parasites in the body.

The anthelmintic effect is characteristic for a number of synthetic and natural substances. For a sufficiently long time antihelminthic agents were plant substances, such as fern extract (male), henopodium oil, cinnamon wormwood and others. Today, often used synthetically produced anthelmintic drugs for humans. It should be noted that most of them are safer than those used before. Modern anthelmintic drugs for humans are divided into groups corresponding to the predominant effect on different classes of parasites. So, they distinguish antinematodoznye, anti-cestodal, antitrematoznye medicines. At the same time, some anthelmintic agents are very effective at simultaneous control of various parasitic groups. There is a group of antihelminthic drugs that affect the development of extraintestinal parasites. These include chloroxyl, ditrazine and other medicines. Depending on the chemical structure of synthetic drugs against worms, different groups of compounds are distinguished. Ethanolamine derivatives (diphezil, naphthamone and others), benzimidazole derivatives (medamin, mebendazole and others), salicylamide (fenasal), imidazothiazole (levamisole), as well as piperazine salts should be distinguished here. A new class of highly effective antihelminthic medicines has recently been discovered - pyrazinoisoquinoline derivatives.

Today, various antihelminthic drugs are produced . For children , treatment is often used. This drug has a wide range of effects, low toxicity and high efficiency. The drug is available both in tablet form and in the form of syrup.

As a rule, the treatment of children's helminthiasis is carried out in three stages.

The first stage involves the use of antihistamines and enterosorbents for three to five days before the beginning of taking an antihelminthic drug.

When using a feed on the first day of therapy, the dosage is half the single dose. From the second to the fifth day, the medication is taken in a full infant dose. At the same time, anthelminthic medication is combined with the use of antihistamines and enterosorbents. In the case of enterobiosis, the child is prescribed a full dose from the first day of therapy.

During the five days after the end of therapy, enterosorbents and antihistamines continue to be taken by mouth . Probiotics can be attached to the therapeutic regimen. Their reception can last from two to three weeks.

When treating helminths, antihelminthic drugs must be used for all family members. Only in this case is the effect of the treatment guaranteed. In addition, before the start of the therapeutic course, it is necessary to make a wet cleaning, to change linen. During the treatment, you should carefully observe the rules of hygiene and iron the laundry with a hot iron.
