Adenomyosis of the uterus: causes, symptoms, features, treatment

One of the most poorly studied diseases in gynecology is endometriosis. Nevertheless, it causes many problems for women. To date, the causes and mechanisms of the onset of endometriosis, including its variety of adenomyosis, are not fully understood.

These diseases are associated with the growth of the endometrium in places not provided for this. Its foci can be on the peritoneum, in the ovaries, the bladder, the fallopian tubes. The proliferation of endometrial tissue in the uterine myometrium is called adenomyosis.

The peculiarity of this disease is that it depends on the woman's menstrual cycle, during which the endometrium grows and then is rejected. Normally, it should only grow inside the uterus, preparing for implantation of the embryo.

However, if a woman has adenomyosis, then the endometrium is in myometrium. During menstruation, hemorrhages occur, since there are no ways for the exit of the rejecting tissue. Because of this, there is inflammation, swelling, an increase in size, a malfunction, the immunity decreases. However, a woman has unpleasant sensations.

So, adenomyosis of the uterus, the symptoms:

  • Tenderness before, after and during menstruation in the pelvic region;
  • Violation of the cycle;
  • Unpleasant sensations during sex;
  • Discharge after and before the month;
  • Sometimes infertility, PMS, profuse menstruation.

To diagnose this disease using gynecological examination, ultrasound, colposcopy, taking smears and examination of the body. Also apply GHA, hysteroscopy, MRI.

Experts believe that adenomyosis of the uterus occurs for the following reasons:

  • Constant stress state;
  • physical work;
  • Genetic predisposition;
  • Abuse of the solarium and sunbathing;
  • Sharp and frequent climate change;
  • Improper application of mud;
  • Abortions, mechanical injuries, scraping, surgical interventions;
  • Sex during menstruation ;
  • Immune disorders;
  • Age after 35.

The peculiarity of this disease is also the fact that some women experience strong psychological and physical suffering, and others do not even guess that they have it. And the diagnosis is put to them casually during the operation or ultrasound on another occasion.

In some women, adenomyosis of the uterus does not affect the ability to conceive a child, while others suffer from infertility. Modern science is not able to predict whether there will be problems with fertility in a particular patient with such a diagnosis.

Gynecologists believe that to treat adenomyosis of the uterus is necessary only in the event that there are problems. If it is diagnosed, but does not cause concern, then it is necessary to observe, but not to interfere.

Another feature of this disease is that after the onset of menopause it goes by itself. This is due to the fact that all of his symptoms appear against the background of menstruation.

Adenomyosis of the uterus is treated depending on the severity of the symptoms, the patient's desire to have children in general and in the near future, age, general condition of the body. In this case, conservative and operational methods can be used.

The conservative methods include hormone therapy. Its purpose can be to eliminate the symptoms of the disease, as well as prepare the patient for pregnancy. Also, drugs that cause an artificial menopause are used. Surgical interventions are used only if ineffective or impossible to use conservative methods of treatment.

So, adenomyosis of the uterus requires treatment not always, but only in the presence of symptoms and problems with fertility. To combat this disease, hormonotherapy and surgery are used.
