The drug "Lidocaine" (spray) is a local anesthetic of the amide type. Anesthesia is provided by blocking the formation and movement of the nerve impulse. The mechanism of action of the drug "Lidocaine" (spray) is due to the stabilization of the membrane permeability of neurons for sodium ions. In connection with the increase in the threshold of electrical excitability, the movement of the pulse is blocked.

Use of the drug during surgery in the pharynx of the nasopharynx is due to the fact that when the drug is administered, the corresponding reflex (swallowing) is suppressed. When the trachea and larynx are reached, the medicine can suppress coughing urges, leading in some cases to bronchospasm.

The effect of the drug is achieved within a minute, lasting from five to six minutes. The sensitivity, the reduction of which was achieved during application, is returned after fifteen minutes.

The drug "Lidocaine" (the release form can be not only a spray, but also a gel) is often used for local anesthesia in dentistry, with removal, dental treatment. The drug is widely used in prosthetics.

The drug "Lidocaine" (spray) is indicated in the local anesthesia in oral surgery, in dental practice when dissecting abscesses (superficial), fixing a bridge or crown, manual or instrumental excision (removal) of an enlarged papilla in the tongue. The medicine is used when removing the teeth of mobile and dropping, bone fragments. The drug "Lidocaine" (spray) is used before the X-ray examination to eliminate the pharyngeal reflex, when excising benign tumors on the mucosa in the oral cavity. The medication is used for children when the cysts are opened in the salivary glands and for frenuloectomy.

In addition to dental practice, this medicine is also used in ENT practice before tonsillectomy, electrocoagulation, washing of nasal passages.

Very effective is the preparation "Lidocaine" for anesthesia before using various probes inserted into the nose or mouth, before rectoscopy, with the replacement of catheters.

The drug is used in gynecology and obstetrics in the perineal region, to reduce the sensitivity of the operating field for vaginal or cervical surgery, for excision of the hymen or for the treatment of its rupture.

The drug is sprayed onto the mucous membranes. Dosage depends on the size of the anesthetized surface and the indications. When spraying one portion of the spray, 4.8 mg of the active ingredient (lidocaine) is on the surface.

Recommended lowest dosage, providing a satisfactory effect. Otherwise, the probability of a high concentration in the plasma of lidocaine is increased. As a rule, one to three sprays are enough. In some cases (in obstetrics), fifteen or twenty dosages are allowed. At the same time, the maximum number of sprays should not be more than 40 per 70 kg of mass.

Using a swab impregnated with the drug, it is allowed to apply to large areas, (use in children up to two years).

Patients with hepatic and renal insufficiency should be administered a dosage that is 40% less than recommended.

The spray bottle must be held vertically.

In recommended dosages, the drug is allowed to be used during the period of gestation.

Data on the penetration of the drug "Lidocaine" in breast milk are not enough. Use in nursing should be under the strict supervision of a specialist.

When using the drug, a slight burning sensation is possible. As a rule, the sensation passes with the development of anesthetic effect. It is extremely rare to have anaphylactic shock, bradycardia, arterial hypotension.

Before using the drug, the doctor should familiarize the patient with the contraindications to the drug.
