Museum of Art (Kurgan): history, exposition, exhibitions

The regional art museum (the city of Kurgan) is the owner of one of the most complete collections of Russian painting of the Trans-Urals of the 20th century. The museum became the main center of the collection, preservation and promotion of creativity of the Ural artists of the modern period.

Museum today

Started in 1982, the Museum of Art (Kurgan) immediately began to conduct not only exhibition, but also public work. The Museum of Art (Kurgan) takes an active part in grant projects aimed at working with children, adolescents and young people. Collections and exhibits

The Museum of Art (Kurgan is proud of it) gathered in its storehouses collections in all areas of fine art - painting, drawing, watercolor, sculpture, arts and crafts, creative works of Orthodox themes and theatrical and decorative art. There are unique works of Fonvizin and Soiferthys, Savinov and Deineka, Razumovskaya and Shegal. Kurgan artists have provided the museum with more than 300 of their watercolors.

Icons of the end of the XVIII century, old printed, hand-written books and metallography - all this adorns the section of decorative and applied art.

On the exhibits of the museum you can trace the development of Russian and foreign paintings, compare different art schools and styles of the former union republics. In addition, the museum has an extensive library of books on art and a large scientific archive of works by Urals artists - the largest in the Trans-Urals.
